Food: I ordered the tamales with rice and beans and a shredded beef taco a la carte. Thoroughly enjoyed the tamales and sides. The tamales come covered in chili verde which isn't spicy. Very similar taste to those of Hacienda Grill on Buck Owens. Beans and rice were yummy as well. The taco I did not even eat after the first bite. It had a fishy taste to it.
Drink: I originally ordered a Diet Pepsi, but they didn't have fountain drinks and wanted to bring me a can. I absolutely hate getting a canned beverage in a restaurant, so I opted for the iced tea which was good.
Service: the waitress we had was very nice, but didn't refill my tea once and forgot my straw after asking for one twice.
Location: it was a bit of a drive to get here and it is located right off the main road, so it was hard to get out of the parking lot as I had to reverse to get back on the road while watching for oncoming traffic. Also the parking spaces were so dirty with a literal accumulation of dirt. If you are wearing sandals and hate getting dirt in your shoes watch where you step.
Also the inside does not have any booths. So if you prefer booths, as I do, you're out...
Read moreThe service was really helpful. The menu was very authentic. The food was good but I had an allergic reaction to shellfish, which wasn't suppose to be in what I ordered, and I did tell them about my shellfish allergy and how excited I was to try their tilapia ceviche that would be safe for me. If you are allergic to shellfish, don't get their tilapia ceviche, it's not safe. The staff was kind to me while I was trying to recover from getting very sick. They gave me some free rice and beans to try to help settle my stomach. They also seemed to be monitoring me in the bathroom to check if I was still alive. I liked the atmosphere, the bar tender/server. It was just an unfortunate experience. It's possible they learned to be more careful about cross-contamination by seeing how they...
Read moreWhat you'd expect of this hole in the wall location: Not much, but once inside you find tables draped with table cloths, cloth napkins and a flower on each table. You are pleasantly greeted by the wait staff and seated. There is lovely artwork on the walls and the service is great. You can tell that the staff cares about their customers. Even our service dog was treated nicely and they brought him a generous hamburger patty for his breakfast. I opted for a delicious chili rellenos with rice and beans. My husband chose the huevos rancheros served with rice, beans and tortillas. Both dishes had generous portions of which we had to take home. This was our second visit and will not...
