Soooo, I've had a $25 Planet Fitness membership for a year now that I did not use. A total waste of money. Middle Branch Fitness & Wellness, an absolutely awesome treasure conveniently located up the street from Harbor Hospital. Let me tell you everything about this was really community oriented. There is an elevated track that you can walk or run that circles the circumference of the building. There is also a step incline that you can walk to really feel the burn. There is a fitness area that has some free weights and fitness machines available. 2 pools one for laps and one open pool. (You have to do a small swim test to be in the open pool). Basketball courts, inside and outside and many family and children oriented activities. For those who want to be outside, there is an outdoor pool and walking paths. There are even early swim options starting at 6 a.m. on some days for the early riser or to get a quick swim in before work. Plenty of comfy chairs with outlets if you want to just relax and read a book or if you need a change of scenery for work you have to do. And yes, they even have free Wi-Fi. All of this for the low low price of $free.99. (that means it's free). There is a $2 fee for the pool. That it is. I absolutely love it and recommend it for anyone who needs to start their fitness journey but doesn't want the high cost of a gym. Stop by and check it...
Read moreDO NOT REFER TO THE CITY'S POOL SCHEDULE. CALL FOR HOURS.
Hats off to the director Phillip Blackwell for running an amazing community facility. Until he's given authority over the website, call for hours or familiarize yourself with their online reservation system (CivicRec) which requires a login, but allows you to see and reserve classes and open swim spots. Parking is free and the staff are very friendly.
Nice walking/running track elevated indoors above the pool, weight area and basketball court. Reasonable assortment of cybex style weight equipment in good condition.
There are fitness classes and activities available for youth and adults and while there's no cost to enter, some classes require a fee. Pool day passes are a very reasonable $2 per person and there are clean locker rooms with showers to change and rinse.
Pool is very kid friendly but children must pass a swim team to use the larger and deeper pools. They must be able to swim 2 lengths of the pool without touching the sides or bottom of the pool. The kid's pool area is less than 2 feet deep and has sprinklers to play in. Neither the small slide nor the large slide for the deep end were working as of February 2023. Deep end has a neat little climbing wall with 2 short overhanging routes that are V0/V1 maybe...
Read moreThe building itself seems like its utilized for a gym and pool but the gym is in a corner area very small. Makes me wonder what they use this building for and who. Not very welcoming. Only one small bleacher for the WHOLe football/soccer field. A new playground was just set up there but...Anyway it looks beautiful. Wish that it was more accessible to the whole neighborhood. Two schools were shut down in this area just thought i might throw that in with the fact that the only two schools left are elementary schools preK-2 and 2nd-8th which is elementary and middle and they are located on the other side of the mountain. I wish everyone the best of luck always and I hope your time is enjoyed...
