First time fishing in Sitka Alaska. Found these guys on google, took a risk and booked it without knowing what to expect. WOW is all I have to say! I will never book anything else but these guys in the future. We literally were treated like royalty.
Arrival we were met at the airport and shuttled to the lodge, they offered to stop anywhere we wanted to get supplies if needed. When we got to the lodge we were met by amazing staff they showed us our rooms and gave us a run down on what to expect in the days coming. The lodge was immaculate! Clean and very well kept! Two living spaces with tvs to accommodate everyone.
Food was spectacular, chef was top notch I regret not getting photos of all my meals. We had in 4 days roasted duck, crab legs, halibut and ribeye steak. Breakfast and lunch were also provided.
The ladies at the lodge took care us extremely well! Our laundry was done fast and beds were made daily, bathrooms were kept clean at all times. Never once we had to ask for anything it was done and they were constantly asking if we needed anything or what could they do for us!
We were placed with Taylor as our boat captain first 2 days. He was phenomenal! Very knowledgeable of the fishing area and fishing habits in the area. We caught our limit the first day in a few hours. Third day the boat had some sensor issues they tried everything to fix it. We were placed with another captain, Captain Riley and he was awesome as well!
The only thing I could complain about is I didnât book more days!! They had a vehicle and EBikes for us to use anytime.
Shuttle to the airport was great they took the boxed fish and checked it in for us. Couldnât have asked for a better experience. We truly had a memorable experience and look forward to make it a year tradition! Owner Brian and his wife aiza are great people we felt like family from the beginning. Brian runs a great charter/lodge and ALL of his employees take pride in what they do. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Donât waste your time booking with anyone else!

Read moreWhat an incredible trip! Top notch service from the minute we arrived until the day we left for home. The rooms aren't fancy, but they're clean and comfortable and are serviced each day. There is a large common room on the second floor with A Deck overlooking the water, oversized recliners for relaxing where you can watch a large screen TV or trade fish stories with other patrons and friends. The on site Executive Chef prepares tasty breakfasts and dinners. His home made soups, tomato, beef barley, and split pea to name a few, are delicious. There is a wide selection for breakfast, including cereals, oatmeal, bagels, toast, muffins and alternating days with French toast or blueberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, kielbasa and eggs made to order. Christine, the chef's assistant, makes sure that you want for nothing during your meals and always has a big smile and a cheerful disposition. For lunch, which is DIY, there are an assortment of lunch meats, lettuce and tomato, cheeses and condiments and yes PB and J. Lunches can be topped off with an assortment of snacks ranging from fruits to granola bars and cookies. Shame on you if you leave here hungry! The rest of the staff never stop! Hunter, Mandy and Tanon are tireless workers. Tanon and Hunter tend to the fish processing and driving, make sure your get to your boat on time, tend to your catch and many other duties. Mandy, from driving, housekeeping, managing reservations, fish processing and making sure everyone is comfortable, she does it all! And always with a smile! The captains are friendly, knowledgeable very attentive to safety They work diligently to put you on quality fishing. They gladly answer all of your questions and provide you with top notch service whether its baiting your lines, offering pointers on technique, gaffing your catch for hoisting it aboard or cheering you on while you are trying to land "the big one". I highly recommend A-Z Sportfishing for your fishing trip...
Read moreMy son and I travelled to Alaska for the first time to enjoy some sport fishing. After deciding on Sitka I looked at reviews and decided to make arrangements with A-Z Sportfishing because they are all inclusive and have great reviews. I came from Colorado to make great memories.
Right from the start they made the process of making reservations easy and followed up quickly on my questions. The customer service continued to be excellent when Mandy and Hunter picked us up at the airport. They made sure we had what we needed, including a stop at the local liquor store for some of the new arrivals. At the lodge Mandy gave us the tour and set us up with the information for our first day of fishing the next day. Dinner was excellent and we met some of our fellow adventurers.
We were fortunate to be paired with another father/son team captained by the owner, Brian. He's built his business on big halibut, and boy did he deliver. Between us, we caught four big ones that we bought GAF tags for and a 36 incher at the very end. Brian was very clear about the cost for GAF and made sure he knew what our "keeper" threshold would be. We sent one back that was not over that size.
Brian keeps his boat clean and organized all day long. He's a great communicator and teaches well.
As for the lodge, it's a good base camp. Plentiful food and a convivial atmosphere were the order of the evenings. Everyone was pretty tired, so we went to bed early. Four o'clock in the morning rolls around quickly after eleven hours on the water.
I highly recommend coming to stay and fish at A-Z...
