I don’t write reviews. I’m writing this because this was the WORST experience I’ve had with an excursion by far. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I’ve been on many excursions in the past, and I’ve never been treated this way. We paid two ladies in blue jackets at the cruise port and they gave us “tickets” (off centered business cards with no contact information) to board on and off the bus. We got to downtown to get picked up by a yellow school bus and the driver drove us to the Fortress of the Bears. Before we got off, he asked us to return the cards. People hesitated because that is our ticket to get picked up, so finally the driver let it go. I should have sensed something was off already, but I brushed it off since we were on vacation. We got off for an hour and saw the bears. The same bus driver came back to pick us up to go to the Raptor Center. Before we got off, he told us that he may not be the driver picking us up and to wait at the drop off station in an “hour-ish”.
An hour passed, and THEY NEVER CAME BACK FOR US! We spoke to the workers at the raptor center and they told us they are KNOWN to be late, and sometimes never come back despite the strict schedule they created but never honored or adhered to. Our group waited for over 45 minutes for the bus, and they never came back.
Everyone had to walk back from the raptor center back to downtown. An elderly couple in a later group had to figure a different way back because the walk was too much.
I highly recommend joining another tour group. If you decide to join Sitka Tours, make sure you have cell service and be ready to get...
Read moreMy husband and I used Sitka Tours July 2024 and had an incredible day. The tour was truly one of the best days of our trip to Alaska. We flew into Sitka the night before and the airline lost our luggage. Since we didn't have any raingear, our guide made sure we had unbrellas to use when she picked us up at our hotel. Next stop was to pick up a family of 4 with 2 young children. Our guide was so welcoming and made everyone feel like friends. We were never rushed through any of our stops. There was always time for one more photo and we never left an area until everyone was finished. Bears, raptors, fish hatchery, waterfront area. She made sure that the children in the group had time to examine all of the sea life in the touch pool. When driving between attractions she entertained us with stories of day to day life in Sitka and how she and her family came to live in Alaska. The entire day seemed to be personalized to each member of the tour even though we spaned various ages. Would 100% take a tour...
Read moreWe visited Sitka on August 7, 2019 aboard the Holland-Ameca ship Eurodam. We had booked a highlights tour with Sitka Tours through HAL. My wife is in a power wheelchair, so we were booked in an accessible vehicle. Our driver and guide was Christie, who is tremendous! She was attentive to my wife's needs, and careful to get her aboard and off Van #22 with ease and safety. Christie is knowledgeable and witty, and showed us Sitka as visitors should see the area. We were lucky enough to see pink salmon spawning in Indian River. The icons in the Russian St. Michael's Cathedral are magnificent. The history, geography and biological environment of Sitka are treasures. Thanks to Christie and Sitka Tours, we have...
