During our visit to Cook's Forest, we visited the Pickle Barrel. This was a quaint store with a really nice atmosphere and great products. We found really nice place mats and bought six. They looked awesome on our kitchen table but when we washed them, they faded and shrunk terribly. Being 2 1/2 hours away, they were not easy to return. We called them and explained our situation. The women actually remembered us and informed us that they just bought them from a new vender and were so happy that we called and they removed the remaining product from the shelves. They also requested that we mail them back so they could reimburse us and informed us that they would also reimburse our shipping cost, which we did.

Only a few days later, we received a check for the product along with a really nice gift and a thoughtful note.

This was the best customer service that we have experienced in a really long time. If we lived closer, the Pickle Barrel would be on our list of highly frequented store - we could not recommend them...

My wife absolutely loves this place. Every time we are camping up there we have to stop in. She saw a chest that she liked and said it would look great in the house. Well about three weeks later I was up in the area and decided to see if they still had it. They did, so I bought it. The best part though was the conversation I had with them. I was there for about a half hour just gabbing with them about everything. These are the kinds of stores that are sorely missed when they go away. Not really because of what they sell, but because of the amazing people...

While this used to be my favorite store for as long as I can remember, I'm not a fan of the changes the new owners have made. It doesn't have the same feel anymore. I loved the walkway to the next building that looked out on the garden and hearing the windchimes. The charm is now gone with the way they enclosed it. Also, seems like some vendors are perhaps no longer there. I will hope next season they find a way to improve upon it but even the staff had a different vibe. It didn't give that welcoming family friendly atmosphere when walking in or...

After spending a wonderful week in a cabin near Cook Forest State Park, we had to stop by the Pickle Barrel! Plenty of unique pickled things in a wide range of flavors! Also, hand crafted gift items. The new owners are very friendly, you'll have a good time if you share a story about your recent or long ago visit to the area! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Super cute shop. Great for pickle lovers. They have pickle room with hundreds of pickle jars. The rest of the shop is collectibles and trinkets. I got some dog donuts that were super cute. I tried to sweet garlic pickles and the hot dill pickles. They were delicious. The woman working was very friendly. I recommend stoping if you are in the area and are a pickle lover.

I always enjoy coming to the Pickle Barrel... whenever we are in town. Part food store, part flea market and part furniture store...this place is a very unique find. Some of the food that you can buy here is pickled foods, jams, butters and fudges. Last time that I was here...I bought a jar of hot pickled asparagus. This time...I bought Star Wars cards, from 1977.
