We live locally and have gone here about once a month for years. We're interested mostly in the salad bar, the cookies, and the hot prepared food area. The salad bar is pretty varied. Because it is priced by the pound, be careful not to include much heavy food, or it will be really costly. The hot prepared food area has numerous delicious selections. Contrary to what they advertise, it is rather pricey.
The cookies, displayed in a tray cart behind the registers, are good. They used to have more flavor and have shrunk in size.
This store seems to be quite a cash cow for the owners. It is hard to get out of there without spending a lot of money for a few things. Nevertheless, it was good to make special trips for things not found elsewhere. Until recently. We went there and witnessed a tall man we had never seen before 1. stare at an employee in a hostile way while the person worked and 2. reprimand same employee about something laughably petty in front of customers. That's a big NO! The employee looked unhappy and frightened.
We said some encouraging words to the employee afterwards and spoke to an owner about the incident. We had never seen this owner before. She made some negative comments about the employee and had trouble getting it that humiliating an employee in front of customers was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk, it is expensive..try to drop less than $100! But it's perfect to get a terrific sandwich.. big enough for two.. and try out interesting cheeses. Small but nice wine selection. We go for the deli as they offer a good selection of all sorts of fresh salads..plus fantastic ribs. (Friends who don't eat red meat make an exception for their rivs..in winter the chicken pie is amazing...all chicken!) They also have a small but sufficient salad bar and you find lots of regulars getting their hot dinners. Note that they fill the meal container so full that it feeds 2 people with decent appetites..very generous. Good cookies, half pies and the best non homemade scooter pies I have found. The people who work there are really nice and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the idea of Lambert's. Fresh food, fresh produce. I only wish there were more of them because this place is expensive. It's not overwhelmingly expensive, but for us working folks it would be nice to be able to look forward to going to Lambert's for lunch -every day- without breaking the bank after awhile. Sandwich, chips, drink, we're looking at about $15. But I could never complain about quality. Well on second thought, the recipe for the cookies seems to have changed within the last month or so, and not for the better. I used to cherish biting into their decadent Heath bar cookie after a hearty Italian sub, but something is different, no longer soft and chewy. But hey if that's the only complaint, then we're...
