TBR Books and Tea is truly the kind of place Baton Rouge has been waiting for! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that’s equal parts cozy, charming, and completely magical. The space is beautifully curated—every detail from the shelves to the tea bar is aesthetically pleasing and thoughtfully arranged. It’s spotlessly clean, well-stocked with an incredible selection of books, and staffed by the kindest, most welcoming team.

We attended the grand opening in April and fell in love instantly, and the first children’s Saturday story-time was such a sweet, memorable experience. You can tell how much heart has gone into creating this space. My family and I can’t wait to be regulars. Supporting a local, independent business like this feels good—and in this case, it also tastes good (the tea selection is fantastic!).

The aesthetic made walk in, the micro aggressions made me walk right back out!

Very unwelcoming environment if you are a person of color. I walked in today looking to purchase a book and tea. I was not greeted by anyone in the store someone did come to make sure nothing was missing from the area I was in. Everyone coming after was greeted and helped!

I wasn’t acknowledged except to note my unwelcome presence in the store, with sideways glances and avoidance, which was not crowded to say there was a book signing. If you’re in the Baton Rouge area and a person of color this isn’t the place to be!

Such a cute bookstore and tea shop!! So glad we have this new bookstore in Baton Rouge. All the books are new and they are very up to date on their selections! They have lots of comfy seating to read in. There is a wide selection of gifts such as puzzles, tote bags, magnets and watercolor sets.
