This is the first time I purchased strawberry’s from Silver Star farms and I’m not happy with the berry's. It looked to me like they topped the flat with fresh berrys and there were older berrys underneath. When I called and discussed the problem I was told it was my fault and because it had rained this week I should have rinsed the berrys in a mixture of water and vinager to kill the mold spores as because of the rain earlier in the week they were more susceptible to This would have been good information to have when I purchased them. I lost 1/3 of the flat to rot. They would do nothing for me except blame me for how I handled the berrys and that it couldn’t possibly be their product. I was very disappointed by their response. I’ve been making strawberry jam for 30 years and have never had berrys rot this fast. I purchased them late Friday afternoon and started processing them...
Read moreI love this farm and I’m super excited they’re open. To some who gave negative please understand that a farm can’t control what Mother Nature throws your way. Learn to buy when in season and during a week when weather cooperates. I absolutely love their dried spices. I still have a healthy amount of their dried dill from last summer. Here it’s May. The jar still smells fresh when you open it. I love to use it in scrambled eggs. Last summer towards the end I purchased little teeny Pinapple tomatillos. I made a finishing sauce to put over bbq foods like chicken. Gives it a great flavor. You could also put it over a cream cheese block with a few sliced almonds served with crackers. I love that they had different things. Can’t wait to see what they...
Read moreWe've been going for years and i recommend them to everyone but the field this year (2022) is just horrible. Foot tall weeds, overgrown paths, you have to trot past huge overgrown weeds just to get to the plants, and once you're AT the berries, the bushes are empty. The whole field to the west and north just empty, probably every 6th bush had a berry and it was a toss up between a decent berry, a rotten berry or a berry that's been eaten by wildlife. I'm not sure if it was an early season rush but I was just so disappointed to see the farm I adore look so bad. Spent 30~ minutes actively looking for and picking berries and got less than a quarter of a pound between two...
