I came to Holly Rock Stables (HRS) in May 2023, during a time when I was very burnt out on horses. The joy in riding and showing was long gone and I was defeated and ready to call it quits. On top of that I was struggling financially and my horse had lost a significant amount of weight at a previous barn. The barn manager, Amanda, was very understanding of my circumstances and rather than criticizing or judging me she dedicated her time and resources to helping me get weight on my horse. In just a few months he was at a healthy weight and I was able to lease him to a lesson student she referred to me. It didn’t take long before I found myself really looking forward to heading to the barn and riding with the Holly Rock crew, whether that be hitting the trails, riding in the indoor arena or hauling out to a weekend show.

I have been in the horse industry for over 25 years and have boarded at many stables. HRS may not offer all the amenities of a high end show stable but it is a barn full of individuals who truly care for each other and the health and happiness of the horses. We’ve been here at Holly rock for 2 years now. Since day one it’s been amazing. Amazing owners, barn manager and especially theFriendly boarders who’ve created a safe and family environment for our horses and kids. The barn has gone through some updates in the last year from a complete overhaul of a paddock to create lush green grass in the coming year to new sand being added to the indoor arena surrounded by new walls. The horses here are always happy even during the winter months when they’re on the mud lot. The barn manager has always put the safety of the horses first when it comes to unfavorable weather to unsafe situations when horses break stuff because well….. they’re horses. The barn manager and owners are always accommodating when it comes to off hour pick up or drop off from horses being hauled in or out. The key to this is communication and never once has this been a problem. We love it here, it’s become our second family and we look forward to the coming years.

Other boarders are great and facilities are fair for the price. Not many problems until after my horse was injured and diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome, so she needed separate turnout. Owner was fine with our agreed arrangement in the beginning, as long as I did everything myself and still pay partial board. After we had everything situated, he had issues with our turnout agreement come up (due to the weather) and would not allow me to use the other pasture or indoor arena for temporary turnout. They also would not comply with my veterinarians instructions for individual turn out and put her at risk by turning the herd out with her even though she was out before them. I felt like my horses health was at risk, so I pulled her out and moved her for her...
