Unfortunately, I had a very mixed experience. My fiancé and I came in to design my engagement ring and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Naturally, we wanted to take his wedding band here when we wanted the stone replaced. He picked from loose stones that were available, and we were appreciative when they were willing to split a matched pair.

When we picked up the ring, we were very happy with the result initially. It wasn't until we brought it home that we noticed a scratch in the sapphire, a dent across the milgrain on the setting, and what looked to be some sort of tarnishing on the yellow gold. We were surprised it was given back to us in such a state. My fiancé brought it back and they agreed to replace the stone with the second of the matched pair. He was told that the tarnished-looking spot was likely just due to the fact the ring was antique, despite it not being there when we dropped it off. There was no apology then, nor when I called back to inform them of the dent my fiancé forgot to mention. Regarding that, I was told the prongs had to be leveraged open and sometimes that happens. We picked up the ring again the following week.

We looked at the ring admittedly not as closely as we should have in the store, but we were in a rush and at this point still trusted the jeweler to fix their mistakes. Further inspection at home revealed the atrocious state of the ring. The stone was replaced, but was sitting unevenly and the setting itself was not flat. The milgrain had disappeared along with the rhodium plating that was on the band. The prongs were uneven and looked bubbly. It was just sloppy. We were truly devastated, not knowing if the ring could even be fixed at that point. After some deliberation, we decided not to take the ring back to Jonathan's as we no longer trusted them to not only fix their mistakes, but not make it worse in the process. I had to pay over $200 to a different local jeweler instead, who did a fantastic job and was able to restore the ring entirely.

I'm not sure how we received the ring twice with such glaring problems, or what the quality control process is. I know that I felt treated almost as a nuisance when I asked about the dent and I know that no one seemed surprised, apologetic, or even seemed to care when we brought it back.
