Airport security has no consideration for children. As we walked through the medal detectors they pulled me aside (mom) and told me to hold out my hands. The security guard asked the other security guard why are we testing? He said, “that’s her daughter.” Like something was wrong. Then he proceeded to be stern with a command of, “hold out your hands.” I said, “is this like a parental test? Why am I being tested?” He said, “if you want to fly today you will let me test you.” I said again, “what am I being tested for?” He then very aggressively said pretty loudly, “explosives and threats!” My anxiety hit the roof as people were then staring and concerned as this security guard was very loud and intimidating. I of coarse did the test but my daughter was saying “mom what’s going on several times!” Then not only did the harassment effect that moment they proceed to go through both my daughters little blanket bag and my carryon as well right after. They treated us like we were terrorists and with so much disrespect and embarrassment for no reason! They found nothing in our carry-ons that were hazardous or against the rules or as the guard made very apparent, (explosives) I feel we were targeted for no reason at all and treated with the upmost disrespect. If they had been considerate that there was a child present and been a little more gentle with whatever there process and procedures are I would not be so upset. I was in Tears and am so traumatized by this experience. We as people and employees need to do better and be better. This was so out of line and not just the precautions, I get those but the way they handled it and treated innocent people was so disheartening. Especially with children! Just do better...
Read moreI grew up in Belgrade during the late 70's early 80's before leaving in 1985. My family still lives in the area and I come back a few times a year to visit. It's ridiculously expensive to live and so drastically different from the place I grew up, I have a very biased opinion and it would be unfair to review based on that. Looking at it as a tourist or traveler my review would include how expensive it is to live as land/property is hard to come by and wouldn't be easy to afford on a single income There is every kind of retail store within 10-ish miles (Bozeman has places to shop including large big box stores, Discount stores, higher-end retail stores as well as thrift stores. Restaurants are also plenty and range from large chains to the Mom & Pop type of restaurant. There are 2 ski resorts within an hour's drive. Both Big Sky and Bridger Bowl are well known in Montana as well as nationwide. The speed limit is very liberal with 80 mph daytime and 70 mph at night. If I didn't know how it used to be all those years ago, and wish it was still the same small Montana town of 1200 that had no fast food and few shopping options except if you drove to Bozeman. Looking at it today, other than the expense of living there I would say that it is a...
Read moreA small airport, with a lack of staff and communication.
Was originally scheduled to board at 7 pm on out of Bozeman MT. After being informed of a 15 minute delay due to an “issue with the aircraft door” at 6:30, I sat and waited without any update for over an hour. By 8:20 pm the app, not the Alaska representative at the gate, notified me that my flight was now cancelled. The gate rep, when prompted, said to call the Alaska help line, rather than come to the desk to reschedule. I spent 30 minutes total on the phone with a rep and then was hung up on after being placed on hold for 20 minutes. Again, the rep insisted we should call rather than come to the gate desk in person.
This is a combination failure of both Bozeman Airport’s staff as well as Alaska Airlines. It seems like there is a strong disconnect between the airline and the staff of the airport, most evident when the gate representative insisted it would be only a short delay an hour into our wait, which was eventually cancelled altogether.
Not sure what I expected from a small airport where our gate agent was also manning the check in counter downstairs, running back and forth wildly while we waited to board. Seems like the airport also has staffing issues in addition to a lack of...
