Located in the Bozeman Airport in Montana, the Copper Horse is the only restaurant available to passengers beyond security. Although nicely decorated and very spacious with beautiful wood work and high ceilings, it was one of the worst experiences in dining in my lifetime. With a little over an hour prior to our flight, we assumed that beer and nachos would be a nice prequel to our vacation. When we arrived, there were maybe 10 occupied tables. We did receive our beer (and soda for my 15yr old) timely, but as we watched the restaurant fill up, we did not receive our Nachos. Nachos. Not a 5 course meal. Just nachos. We watched 3 tables (one of which received their check, and left) nearby that was seated AFTER us receive their meals, yet we still received nothing. After a few inquiries, nothing happened. No explanation. The restaurant was packed, and they were very busy – but that was NOT the case when we arrived and ordered. We ended up walking out – leaving cash on the table, because we could not even get a check. The only way this could have been any worse is if the staff would have been rude and belligerent. I am not sure what happened that night – we were NOT a trouble table – we did not ASK for anything but our order. The beer came in a bottle with a chilled mug, and my son had a soda – a glass, with ice, from a fountain dispensary. We will NOT go back and I recommend others to get your beer and nachos (and other food) BEFORE you get to the airport. The Copper Horse is not...
Read moreWe understood that the server was new and still learning and our review reflects that. Also, we had to change our order from eating in, to taking it w us on the plane. The reason the food received a 2 was because there wasn't much flavor to any of our food. Not only was the flavor lacking, there was not much for a gluten free or vegan patron to choose from. Because of my digestive problems, I must eat gluten free foods. Whenever I am traveling, I try to eat the local foods. So, I wanted to try the bison burger on the menu. I couldn't have any toppings because the onions were prepared w beer. When I asked if I can have plain onions the server said that wasn't possible. I asked if I could have mushrooms on top, which was another option offered on the menu. The server also said no to those. I couldn't have the French fries because they weren't gf. So, I ordered a bison burger w a Caesar side salad. By the time I got my food, it was a dry burger pattie on top of dry romaine lettuce. There were no condiments for my already toppingless burger and there was no dressing on my salad! There was Parmesan cheese tossed on top, but that was it. Dry Lettuce...
Read moreI didn’t get to eat here. When I asked the hostess whether they could prepare any sort of gluten-free dish for a celiac person they went to ask the chef. The message that came back from the kitchen was “We can’t promise anything and we do not recommend you eat here,” with no willingness for further discussion. Wow. In 15 years of dealing with this awful disease I’ve had lots of responses to this question, ranging from “we don’t know what that is,” to “we’ll do our absolute best, but can’t promise there won’t be some amount of contamination.” This was the first time that absolutely zero effort was made to find some sort of safe solution.
I totally understand kitchens can only do what they can do and appreciate any effort on my behalf. Truth is, it’s really just not that hard to wipe down the grill and make me a plain burger patty and a bowl of plain lettuce. It’s not rocket science. I’ve never before been hungry, with limited options, and had a restaurant tell me they just can’t be bothered and that I should go away.
0/10 for celiac or gluten-senstive folks. The rest of...
