I was on my way home to Minnesota when I happened upon this small town haunt having a lights on tour, and I am so glad I stopped!
Just for reference, I have visited 64 haunts in 12 different states, a lot of them being top tier,, and even being daytime, lights on, no actors and no pneumatic or electronic scares active, this one did not disappoint!
From the start, the people I met were very friendly, and the price point was amazing. Then as I entered the first room, I saw the beginning of what was yet to be seen, and my eyes were very impressed. As I wandered the scenes of theatrical level design and listened to the various electronic and pneumatic devices clicking away while yet being deactivated for the tour, it set my imagination wild for what the true show has in store. Even with the lights on, the scare spots were extremely well hidden and it left me questioning which direction the next scare could come from.
And while most people go through the haunt for the scares, I go through with safety in the back of my mind, and I was not let down. Through one of the boo holes, I was able to see the actor runway, with access to every room... I was later informed that there are in fact two of these runways. These normally are used for actors to get into place and to leave for breaks, but they second for fire exits, and ways to get any patrons out that are needing assistance or in the case of an unruly patron that needs quick removal. These behind the scenes pathways keep your safety in mind, and this haunt has you covered.
I will include one photo of a small part of one scene, but I assure you that there is so much more here to be seen that will amaze all of your senses. For the record, I am not in any way affiliated with this haunt or any of its owners or actors, I am merely an avid fan of haunted attractions.
To the owner's, workers, and actors of The Deranged, thank you for the awesome tour, the souvenir cup and candy, and the enjoyable conversations. I had a great time! Keep up the amazing work!
To everyone else, don't pass by this haunt just because it's in a small rural setting which is limiting it's number of reviews, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and you might want to bring a change of pants for...

Read moreOne of my friends told me about this place so I decided to drive the hour or so to Belle Plaine and let me tell you, IT WAS WORTH IT. It was really incredible seeing the amount of work and dedication they put into providing everyone with a spectacular show. I don't consider myself to be someone who scares easily but I must admit this one got me a few times. It was really a whole experience, and I couldn't see a single corner cut ranging from the indoor seating while you waited, selling $1 chips and drinks, a horror movie playing while you wait, so many rooms to walk through, all with intricate detail. The whole experience was really awesome, and I could tell everyone was having a great time. I highly recommend you come here. It was really cool seeing such a show in a...
