I purchased a leather and steel love seat in Sept 2021. The price was $2100 which was a major purchase for me. The sales person was very kind and helpful during our interaction. We had some questions that he couldn't answer. He attempted to talk with the owner in another room and was given little and uninterested attention. Later as we were discussing the item and purchase, the owner happened to pass through the showroom and the sales person again attempted to ask him a question and he was given a flippant rather rude answer. It gave me the feeling of disrespect of the sales person as well as us, the customer. We purchased the item anyway, though we seriously considered walking. Now, 2+ years later, we have discovered a failure in the cushion hook and loop attachment system. The cushion is held in place by a strip of hook and loop (Velcro) along the front edge. The hook strip is sewn onto the couch. There is no loop strip. Instead hook strip grabs the fabric on the bottom side of the cushion. That fabric has kind of a fuzzy surface. When we remove the cushion, the hooks tear a little bit of the fabric away until I found that the fabric now has a hole in it. If it was a true hook and loop, the fabric would not have been subjected to this tearing. Of course this only happens when the cushions are removed for cleaning underneath. Admittedly, I haven't clean under the cushions more than six times in the last two years. That is not very many removals of the cushions that would warrant a "normal wear and tear" defense. The owner's earlier conduct was repeated when I called him about the failure. Disinterest and disregard. He answered "When we separate the cushion from the body of the chair, we place our hand right next to the Velcro and release it with a sliding motion, rather that just pulling up on the cushion. That lessans the tension on the connection point. I don’t know what else to say. No one has every pointed this out." The couch didn't come with an Owner and Operation Manual. I didn't know that there was a procedure for removing the cushions. I am extremely disappointed in the owners attitude toward customer service and the quality of the company products. Although the over quality of the piece is good, I would not recommend doing business with...
Read moreAfter multiple purchases from Modern Classics Furniture, I think it's time for me to share my experience with the company. First, the customer service and communications are fantastic. While a few of purchases took time for delivery due to the custom nature of these purchases, Curt Roth (Owner) was incredible (and incredibly patient) whenever I had a question about the status of my purchase. When the items arrived, they were well-packed. After unpacking the items, each of them exceed expectation for their price. We love the look the items we bought. Kudos to Curt and his company. IMO, unless you need an original collector's piece, you can do no better than these reproductions. At various times, we bought 4 Saarinen-style side chairs in boucle melon orange fabric, a 30" Saarinen-style tulip bistro table, and 2 Saarinen-style tulip side chairs (chartreuse green fabric pads). Take a chance and have fun with the...
Read moreI ordered a pair or Saarinen arm chairs in melon boucle. They are gorgeous and make my dining room spectacular! When you sit in them, you feel the quality. The foam is thick yet perfectly firm and they are sooo comfortable.I searched and read customer reviews forever, to find beautifully made mid-century reproductions by artisans. Every person I dealt with was so helpful and communicative, at this company. I changed my mind a few times on color, was sent more samples and asked so many questions about the comfort of various chairs. Every person that comes in notices them right away and loves them. They came on time and packed...
