My appt was 9am. I called about overnight parking and was told I can check in Anytime after midnight on the day of my appt. Stayed at a truckstop nearby and arrived about 5AM, and the whole place was a clusterfest. Upon entering the area where the docks start, trucks were triple parked along the guard rail to the left, which didn’t leave much room for trucks backing into the docks on the right. Straight in front of you as you enter the property is a short row for truck parking. Not very many spaces. I was lucky that there was one space which I was able to straight back into but very carefully as other truckers were using the limited space created by the triple parked trucks to back into the docks, and I had to pull forward into their limited space to back into the parking spot.
There are signs everywhere that say no overnight parking. I think there even signs that said no parking for 10 hour break? But if they’re allowing people to check in anytime after midnight for an appointment the following day, that’s precisely what the truckers are doing and why it’s so crowded, causing truckers to get creative with their parking, and creating an unsafe situation.
By the time I got called for door, it was after 8AM. Came out of the sleeper berth to see that almost all the trucks had cleared out. I had plenty of room to back into a dock that, a few hours earlier, was very tight.
I had been here once a few months before, arriving about 11AM. Upon check-in, I was told to go to the other location down the street. At that time, it was not crowded, and there was plenty of parking. Clearly, truckers are using this facility for overnight parking and 10 hour breaks despite the signs.
In the future, if I ever get a load with pick up or drop off here between midnight and 6 or 7AM, I will turn it down. It’s too much of a mess to be here during those hours.
Re customer service, I stood at the window FOREVER while the girl stood there typing on her computer and not even acknowledging me. She eventually looked up and said I’ll be with you in just a minute but I still continue to stand there for a long time…for about 10 minutes then I started pacing around the room. I think that got on her nerves but I can only stand in one place for so long without my back...
Read moreWith all due respect to employees, this place has been a big source of headache for me as a driver. It’s just the way they do business which makes me question the management. They have two other locations, they are all in Belvidere. Call and ask them which one you’re supposed to go before you head there because it’s a hustle to get in and out of here, because they are busy locations and there isn’t really a good place to park the truck. They have some spots but they are usually occupied. Also it takes a long time to get in there and talk to an employee so by the time you park and go inside to check in it might be late for your appointment time and there the funny stuff starts. They charge you a late fee. Okay we get that. But then even tho you’re on time trust me they will be behind the schedule to load or unload you. I had similar experiences but also every time I been there I saw drivers arguing with the clerks because of this issue. Like this is not enough, instead of accepting how ridiculous the process is they try to find a way to make you believe it’s not their fault. So prepare yourself for long waits and not getting a valid response. You might be running out of your clock and they’ll try to tell you it’s not their fault that they didn’t tell you it will be way past the actual promised time. Again I don’t think this is a problem caused by the employees on the field, I just think it’s a company...
Read moreI like to pick up at 977 Landmark it's Amercolds cooler in Belvidere. If you have a pick up for Americold in Belvidere and the temp say 34 then you need to go to the Landmark address. If the temp says - 10 then you need to go the Imron location which is two blocks east. All of the night shift I have encountered in the receiving office have been super nice to me. Jenna, Bailey, Jazmine, and Renee ( I may have forgot one or two?) are always nice to me and have worked hard to solve any problems that I have had. The crew that loads at night have always been respectful and courtesy to me. I don't remember their names because I don't consistently get the same person. There is a truck stop located in close proximity but they are pretty good with loading or unloading you early if they have the room and the staff. Note that if you are more than a hour late you will have to pay a late fee before getting a door and will be considered a work in. Also note that if you are picking up a Walmart load you can not have a pallet jack in your trailer. Don't ask how I know just trust me. They upgraded their lighting system in the back which I am thankful for. I still think they need to add like 6 or 8 feet of concrete to stop me from having to put my steer tires in the mud because they have trucks stage 6 feet away from the dock doors until the seal of temps are verified. Obviously the engineer who they hired never...
