Elk & Bison Prairie — Local services in Benton

This is a really cool thing to do! For $5 an automobile you can drive through a prairie full of elk and bison. I've gone through this many times growing up with my family. I can remember times where the bison would literally stick their heads in the car window. It's a really nice thing to do to see elk and bison in their natural habitat. I would highly recommend this for everyone!

The Elk & Bison Prairie offers a native grassland habitat common in Kentucky more than a century ago. Elk and bison roam free within this 700-acre enclosure. Loved seeing the Elk and Bison on two different visits (Fall 2022 and Spring 2023). They were visible at a distance in the fall and too close in the spring. Received moderate vehicle damage from a bison kick to the front fender when a herd crossed the road a safe distance ahead of us but decide to come up the road swarming the cars lined up. Back up quickly if they start up the road toward you is my suggestion. Loved seeing them but the damage made the visit a lot more costly than the price...

Great place to go. Saw the Elk and Bison. It had rained the night before and was a bit cool, so they were not as active but still cool nonetheless. Did see some wild turkey's as well. Nice drive. Went early around 9 AM. Sign on board stated better time was around 7:15 - 8:15 am and 4:15 - 7:30pm. Wish we had known before driving out. Oh well, it was still worth it. And it was only $5 a car.
