Our daughter has had the opportunity to work with a variety of instructors, each bringing their own unique strengths and teaching styles. I rode here in college and the facilities and horses of this barn are the best I've ever seen in MA. Unfortunately, one of the main instructors repeatedly made me feel less-than and anxious while I was outside of the ring for normal, human mistakes that any student could make (unless I had a parent accompany me during a lesson, which wasn't often since I was away from home). At times it crossed the line past constructive criticism and I lost my passion I once had for equestrian sports. My daughter has been riding at Maplewood Farm for several years now and continues to enjoy both the quality of instruction and of the program's lesson horses. She's worked with a number of instructors both in private and group lessons and has been an active participant in the barn's competitive IEA team. Not only has my child become a better rider, but she's grown as a person and has always felt supported and encouraged.
