I will start by prefacing I am very new to golf, only 30 holes played all together; so I wanted to find a course with not a lot of “pressure” to get a feel for the game.
First thing: My buddy and I got stuck in the office and were late to tee time(5:30) and arrived after the pro shop closed(8 mins). From what I’ve gathered, this is a cardinal sin when it comes to golf, but the gentleman and the front was down to earth and extremely friendly and relatable. Even though he was having computer issues, as many did with the recent events, he was just at ease and was more concerned with us getting to play as many holes as possible before the course closed. Passed the character check in my book.
Secondly: After checking in and getting to the first tee box, a group of 4 was already in play. Some had already teed off but they approached us and asked if we wanted to go ahead of them. We were in no rush and decided to wait. Common courtesy or not, time was a factor and this gave me a second positive character check for the people who visit the course.
Third: I’ll admit I have not seen many fairways, greens, or bunkers in my time. However, the course came off as well maintained and you could tell there was a sense of pride in the individuals who worked there from the interactions seen and heard while checking in and on the course.
Lastly : After we finished up our 12 holes, we returned our cart and ran into a couple that was playing behind us. The woman asked how we did, I explained how green I was(pun intended), and she was genuinely excited that I had taken an interest in the sport. After talking for several minutes to her and her husband, they revealed that they had worked at the course for ~25 years and played there regularly. I thought this was great, I had no idea who these two were, but they talked to me as if I was a relative which is something I appreciate.
These interactions and observations confirmed what a great culture and love of the sport this place has on all levels.
I’ll be looking forward to my next visit in the near...
Read moreWas recently here for a scramble event involving a large group of people. it was a walking event. Got all ready and walked to hole 1 tee box and started on time based on our tee time. Part of our group was already golfing ahead of us. got all the way to hole 3 to then have a worker ride up to us in a cart.
The worker was extremely rude, stating that WE did not follow directions to start on the back 9. The worker ensured us it was our fault, but nobody from the course ever told us a thing. The worker also mentioned he had a hernia, and that it was not "his job" to do this. The worker stated that we were holding up paying golfers. Mind you, we were a walking, scramble twosome, and the foursome behind us was in no way effected by our play speed.
The worker proceeded to force us to walk all the way back to hole 10 all while he drove away alone in his cart.
This is the second time I have had a rude interaction with the workers at this golf course. I will not be returning.
If start times of groups is so important to this course, then hire a starter. For the price you pay to play, and the lack of a decent club house and food selection, this course should be able to afford paying someone to...
Read moreThe clown behind the counter needs to learn basic customer service skills. Took my wife and son out to try and enjoy a round of golf and got met with enough attitude that even my son made a comment. We knew there was bad weather in the forecast, but it wasn't supposed to hit until later. By the time we got to the 4th hole the sky started to open up and the thunder and lightning started. Didn't want to risk anyone's safety so we drove back to the pro shop to ask what our options were. I no more than walk through the door, and the same clown looks at me and barks "we are shutting everything down!". I said yea, I understand that's why I'm stopping in, then asked if they are pulling everyone of the course. His response was yes, so I asked was there anyway we could get a voucher or something to come back at a later date. His response was "for what?!" And points at the no refunds for inclement weather sign on the counter. I understand the policy, but 1. there's no reason for that much of a bad attitude 2. If you're shutting down the course you should offer something especially if it's thunder and lightning, not just rain. I've played here multiple times and unfortunately will not...
