My review is a 1 star solely because of my teacher, Mr. Ireland. Because of him, my education taught me most of what I needed to learn. He tries his absolute hardest to make our schooling worth it with what he has, as the school doesn’t supply him with much curriculum or resources. There isn’t really a curriculum you follow, you kind of just go in the shop and assume this is what you should be doing. BCTC advertises a “new state of the art welding program with experienced instructors”, and coming from a student who was thrown into an absolute mess after the old teacher left, don’t fall for that statement. For paying such a large chunk of change you would expect to actually get the curriculum and teaching you thought you were paying for but sadly you end up getting the bare minimum. Personally if you can afford going to another school for welding I highly suggest you do. I’m very shocked this school thinks their welding and fabrication program is something great, but truly they are oblivious to just about everything. The administration does not care to listen to your concerns or complaints. Nothing will change under that management. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with BCTC’s ways of handling things and teaching.
UPDATE: As I am now graduated, I want to stay as professional as I can but I believe this needs to be said as it very negatively impacted the last 4-5 months of my education at BCTC. My Theory teacher I had was having relations with a student. It was brought to the schools attention and they did nothing even though they, themselves said student and teacher relationships have to be “strictly professional”. It was affecting the rest of the students education as that was the reason it was brought to them, but it was no concern for them to look into. Your education is no concern to them as long as they are getting your tuition. Thank you BCTC for a lousy 2024 year. I will make sure I recommend anyone and everyone to go to any other school for...
Read morethe reason i give you guys a 5 is solely for having T or, as you guys would say, Dustin Trumbore. he is a excellent teacher and has taught me so may things before he came to bctc. he pushed us harder than any other teacher i’ve had before and it would benefit all of you coming on here to man up. coming on here and saying stuff online instead talking to him personally is very very childish. having a teacher than can push you and expect more out of you than you do yourself is a blessing. if you cannot handle criticism from a teacher when you are a FULLY GROWN ADULT that says a lot more about you than it does about him. THIS PATH IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT. you will fail instantly if you throw a hissy fit and go right a review online. find some other desk job and work there if you hate it so much. we would LOVE to...
