1-31-24 addition to previous review. I was informed by two employees in the memory care that visiting hours are 8am to 8pm. The only exception to the visiting hours is if the resident is activally dying. However, the admission paper that list the visitation policy states differently. On 1-28, I arrived at the facility approximatly 930pm. I needed to drop off protein drink that we provide and a piece of birthday cake. When I arrived in his room, he was awake, alert, pleasant, and talkative. The aid informed me that he only ate mashed potatoes for dinner, so I asked him if he was hungry or thirsty and he responded YES. Since my dad is on hospice, has been bedbound, and sleeps alot, I was excited to have some quaility time with him. The med tech and the night aid informed me I had to leave because visiting hours were over at 8pm. I explained that in the admission papers we signed visitng hours were unrestricted for family members and the Sheridan encouraged vistitors at all times. The staffs response was that visitng hours were 8am to 8pm. They only permitted visitation after 8pm for family if the resident was activally dying. There are many very caring and compationate employees at the Sheridan. Having my dad on hospice and have his status changed recently to bedbound because they feel he is too weak to get out of bed, I feel that the uncompationate attitude of these two employees even after I told them he was alert and hungry and that I wanted to spend sometime with him was usympathetic and inexcusable. In addition, they ignored the fact that he wanted something to eat and drink.

Working in the healthcare industry and have had the oppurtunity work with residents in several memory care and assisted living centers and I would not recommend this facility. The facility is beautiful, wonderful dining hall, but I have found other facilities to provide much better care. When I am there, I have seen a shortage of staff there assisting with meals. There are times that I could not find staff. I have had on occasion teach one of the aids how to shower and provide care to my dad because they were not doing it properly. It looks great on the outside, but the care is definatly another story. Hopefully, they can make the necessary changes to make it a...

I’m going to do this review for my Uncle and deceased Aunt. First off the low star reviews I’m my opinion is you can’t make everyone happy and I understand when you put your loved one in a home you want the best for them. But let me tell you a honest view from my eyes and I am a multi business owner so I understand how things should be ran and have many family in this business. First off yes it’s hard to get someone to call you back from management. But I’m sure they have a lot on their plate but yes I agree that phone calls should return calls in a faster manner. Let me tell you your love ones will not get better care than they will get here. My aunt and uncle came from Florida and it wasn’t easy to get them here but the staff bent over backwards to make it happen by coming in after hours because we had a delay from the airlines. My aunt just past a couple weeks ago and all the employees came to tell my uncle how sorry they were to hear that she pasted away. They check on him everyday and took him for a walk and talked to him to make sure he was okay. They say with him at breakfast, lunch, and dinner because he would sit by himself because he didn’t know many people he new there. The employees are very caring and become true friends. It’s not just a job to them and I mean that. Now my uncle is on hospice same as my aunt was. Again another very professional service. They have given him a week or so to live. They check on him every hour even when we are they. They check him through the night and if there is a problem they call us. They bring breakfast to him because some days he didn’t feel like going to the dining area and will sit with him to make sure he would eat. So employees are strength of this place for sure and can’t thank them enough. The place is alway kept very clean and what I will say every assisted living home I ever went into smelled like a hospital or urine but not this place. So over all A+ and would like to thank all the employees and staff for the great job they do to care for and protect...

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. My dad is there in the memory care unit. The staff is so kind and caring and loving and attentive and helpful! Every day I think of them and all the things they do for my father and I'm extremely grateful. He's been in a few facilities before and has always been begging to go home. He actually enjoys it here! I am removing a star because if your loved one can’t answer their personal cell phone ( out of batteries or have dementia and can’t figure it out) then the front desk only answers during business hours. There is NO way to check on your loved one and make sure they are ok off business hours. Or what if your loved one calls you in the middle of the night and they’re having a panic attack or delusional episode? You are completely unable to call and contact the staff to check on him. I feel that is totally on except a bowl. It’s too bad that they have this problem with staffing because the rest of the facility is amazing.

HOWEVER - their palliative care was severely lacking. He wasn’t changed except once a day in his last week. If you’ve ever known someone in that stage of life you know there are issues where they need to be changed and flipped every few hours. I was disappointed at how they let him decline in the last week. They just gave him his pain meds and left him alone, not even checking on him for 12 hours at a time (I know because I was there all day...
