I have been coming to the Beverly Y for just about two years now and could not be happier with my experience there. Before I committed to being a member there, I had a fantastic conversation with their membership director, Ainsley which impressed me immediately. Ainsley is one of the most positive, warm, bubbly, attentive, responsive, caring, and helpful individuals I have ever worked with in customer service. She took the time to answer my many questions (my physical fitness is one of the most important parts of my entire life, so I do not choose gyms lightly!) about the gym's amenities, personal training services, and other offerings. She gave me perhaps one of the greatest gifts I could ever receive by recommending and expeditiously connecting me with my current personal trainer, Alex Gois and for that I am forever grateful.
Alex has truly changed my entire life. He has gotten me into the best physical and mental shape yet and got me into competitive running which has become an incredibly rewarding part of my life and fitness journey. His workouts are challenging, varied, comprehensive, and fun!! Every workout is different, but what they all have in common is that they put every part of my body to work and creatively use multiple gym apparatus. He has truly taken me to the next level and makes every workout fly by because he is so pleasant to talk with about literally anything. His warm, flexible, easygoing, kind, caring, and funny demeanor encourage me to continually push myself in a healthy way. He helps me to never underestimate my own strength and has become a good friend of mine who I enjoy hiking and spending time with outside of the YMCA. He treats every client like family and makes everyone feel that getting into amazing shape is possible. He recently earned a promotion to wellness director and it could not be more well-deserved. I am truly blessed that people like Alex exist and I have the good fortune of getting to see him twice a week! Thank you for being who you are, Alex and for your unmatched talent! :)
The Beverly Y itself is a tremendous facility. It has a wide variety of equipment that is clean and well-maintained, friendly and warm front desk staff who are more than willing to answer all questions, ample group exercise offerings, good hours, a delicious cafe with myriad healthy food options, and inviting decor including a fish tank, bios of their staff, and various community fliers. The Beverly Y has truly become my second home and I look forward to seeing all the smiling and friendly faces I encounter there every time I go. This gym truly feels like Cheers where everyone knows your name and genuinely cares about how you're doing. I am so grateful every day that this gym and remarkable community exists; my only complaint is that the Y needs more stair masters because they are almost always all in use!! Other than that, keep up the amazing work and thank you to every member of the Y staff for all you do, day in...
Read moreI have a family membership and two children enrolled in classes and I feel I have wasted my money. I'll start with preschool swimming. My daughter has had 5 different teachers in 6 months. Some days we don't know who the teacher is because they don't even introduce themselves. There are 6 preschoolers and one teacher so these children hold on to the side more than half the time they are there. Also almost every week there is no place to sit because the bleachers are full of the swim team's bags. Now for gymnastics when I first signed up anyone could do open gym as long as they paid, they changed the rules to members only so my niece I care for can no longer join and has to sit and watch my children. Then they changed the rules again at open gymnastics apparently it's 7 and up on Sunday mornings at 10, who knew it is always full of little kids and I don't mind rule change I know it's for safety but no notice just turning people away who came just for open gymnastics! An email or some notice would be nice instead of the staff rudely turning these children away. There were a lot of tears and a lot of upset parents! When someone complains at the front desk its usually a young person who has no customer sevice abilities. Every week I come, and I come multiple times a week, something upsets me whether it the rude staff or a new rule change. I have never complained to anyone yet but I feel now is the time. I feel the Y caters to their team's and could care less about their other customers. Every week at classes the parents sit around and complain. I can't wait until June when these...
Read moreI've had the YMCA camps for my kids for years whike I work throughout the summer. TheyrTh finally at the age where they can be home without constant suoervision, so thankfully I no longer have to shell out to this money pit. For 2 kids, full day summer care cost me over $460/week. I make too much to qualify for assistance, however after paying for camp, was left with not even enough money to pay for rent/car/ food/etc. Unfortunately, the YMCA allows low income families to put thier kids in camp for free. Imagine paying extra to drop your kids off at 830am so you can get to work on time, and watching mom's still in pajamas dropping off thier kids, then rushing to pick them up at 430 and seeing these same mom's, fresh from the beach and gabbing about thier "peaceful day" picking up thier kids. The YMCA doesn't care about working families. They cater to the low income offering free camp and bussing, which in turn raises the prices for everyone else. The worst part... I paid an EXTRA $250 to send my son to "Adventure Camp" for a couple of weeks instead of Sterling woods, and they did nothing the whole time! They stayed in the gym and played basketball, while the teenage counselor played on his phone the whole time. Many of the counselors are irresponsible, immature, and ignorant to the needs of children. This program needs an overhaul. Also, the office frequently messes up the auto payments. My account was over drafted 3 times last year. My request for reimbireimbur for fees was ignored. They need to change thier "Y for all" motto, as it is certainly a...
