For a small town grocery store, they provide an impressive selection of items and I appreciate having a place close for when I need last-minute groceries. Sometimes in the winter produce can be limited, low quality and pricey, but considering how far it has to travel, it makes sense. My main issues are with the staff. They barely acknowledge me when I approach checkout and often times they neglect to apply discounts, so I feel like I have to watch them very closely when they scan items. It’s a small complaint, but it’s really annoying that 95% of the time they don’t ask if I want paper or plastic. They usually just bag my stuff in plastic and I typically like paper bags. Kocian's did a fabulous job of shopping and preparing our grocery order for our extended family vacation at a VRBO house 30 minutes away. Kocian's was the closest grocery store to the house and I called them a month before our vacation to see if they would prepare a large grocery order for us if I sent them a detailed list so I wouldn't have to shop it all myself. They were very helpful and had our order ready when we arrived to pick it up. They even ordered items for us that they didn't normally carry in stock. The produce was fresh (she even told us that if our cantaloupes weren't good quality they would refund our money). Excellent local grocery store in the north woods that gas everything you would need to make your life easy and not have to go miles to town to shop!
