This is more like a 2.5. I had my daughter’s 6th birthday at Sugar Plum Parties. The place was beautifully decorated and my daughter was eager to start activities. We got the Diva package.
I took off 2.5 stars because the people that worked there were not engaging AT ALL. I paid extra for face painting, and makeup was included. The ladies literally were like “next” no bubbly demeanor when dealing with excited 6 year olds- the energy from the staff felt like I was at the RMV, and this rubbed off on the kids who turned to me and the few parents that were there for engagement and to ask for stuff.
During the dance party part I thought again the staff were going to dance along, cheer on the kids but they kinda just stood around staring at the kids annoyingly. We ended up (the parents) dancing and encouraging the children.
The kids were seated and eating pizza and the parents who were sitting around were served greasy pizza in our HANDS, no napkins, no paper plates, I had to continue to ask and even had to tell them to stop trying to place a pizza in the hands of adults without napkins.
We had 30minutes left of our time when they started setting up for the next party and ignoring our kiddos.
We typically go to the royal treatment girl spa in Woburn but wanted to change things up- we will stick to it moving forward. They are so warm and welcoming and feel like a true spa day, with a clean look!
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and certainly not for the price. I’d also like to add that we were people of color so not blaming race but when I look at previous good reviews I wonder why/ how it is that we were treated so poorly.
UPDATE to 1 star* in response to your response: It’s not weird recommending another place when there is another places providing similar services that didn’t make you feel like less than. YOU were well aware of the issue because when it was time to pay the additional $680 (after paying the $100-$200 downpayment), I let the women working there know I wasn’t going to pay the full $80 tip to them because I didn’t like how we were treated. She shrugged at me and said she would let you know. As a business owner why didn’t you...
Read moreDO NOT attend a public event for Sugar Plum. I attended their event at the Elks Club today. I was so excited to surprise my daughter with this event and it was awful. Under their drop-in day information on their website, it says there is dress-up, nails, face painting, hair-dos and take-home accessories, microphones on the stage, and story time with the characters. NONE of this was at the Elks.
We walked into a chaotic crowd. My family was able to say “hi” to 3 characters. We saw some singing on the stage, but then the line to take a picture with the princesses was endless. Prior to the princess picture, my three kids were able to get a picture taken together but the girl doing the pictures did not even take the time to try to get a picture of all three kids looking and/or smiling. We got one stuffed unicorn filled for an extra $10 after standing in another line. Then, we had nothing left to do but leave.
I paid $30 for that, plus $10 for a stuffed animal because that was the only thing for my daughter to do. She had been so excited for the event once we told her and it was an incredible letdown.
Please indicate somewhere on your website for future families that you will only have characters singing, long lines for pictures that are unattainable, and a line to get a stuffed animal filled for an...
Read moreMy family of 4 went to a Sugar Plum event this past weekend featuring the Disney Princesses and the cast of Wicked. We had a last minute obligation pop up that coincided with the event. I called to reach out to Keith, who is the owner and manager, who could not have been more kind or accommodating. After telling him that my daughters were looking forward to the Wicked portion of the event the most, and that they were sad they might miss it due to leaving early for other obligation, he made sure that they were treated like real royalty! So that we didn’t miss out, he made sure they got their picture taken with Dorothy, Glinda, and Elphaba! This was so meaningful for 2 three year olds that are obsessed with Wicked. It was a dream come true! I can’t thank Keith and his team and cast enough- and don’t know how to repay them besides booking tickets to the next event or even a private princess party! Don’t miss the chance to go to a Sugar Plum event. Couldn’t be more impressed with the customer service, all that the event had to offer, and the affordability of it all! Thank you for a...
