I attended one of the Pet Portrait painting sessions. I had no idea what to expect since I had never painted in a group setting before, or really ever for that matter. Ha! The studio environment is relaxed and our instructor (Cassie) was personable and friendly. As I found my canvas, I was pleasantly surprised to see how skillfully sketched my pug was! Not an easy task if you've ever seen a pug. Cassie walked us through every step starting with the background, offering little tips and tricks along the way. She encouraged us to make our own color choices which really made me feel artistic. And when I got stuck or intimidated Cassie was right there to guide me. Even though it was an afternoon class, I thoroughly enjoyed a glass -or two- of the wine I had packed (it’s always 5 o'clock somewhere right?!) When the class was over, I was astounded at what I had created!! Who knew!! And I wasn't the only one; everyone's pet portraits looked amazing! You may come here for like $15 (or something, $45 a month, if ya wanna go weekly like I do) and access any art supplies you'd ever want, and even buy any of it (new stuff though, of course) as you walk out the door. There are classes taught by local artist. And that is offered openly to whomever puts in a little work to make a class - and has the skills, of course. heh. I may do one myself one day. Heh. ...but for now, on Monday evenings I have a studio for a very generous price. Try finding...
