Really awe inspiring. The drive up leads to some fantastic views of the Eastern Sierra. The road to the visitor center and Grove is quite doable in passenger cars and is pretty twisty, so be warned. I think a higher clearance vehicle with off road tires is more appropriate if you want to go further to the Patriarch's Grove. The trees themselves are magnificent. The Methuselah tree is not identified because the occasional lowlife would come up and vandalize the trees. No respect for some of the oldest living things on Earth. Quiet, and magnificent. Read moreThe tree in this shot is not the famous Methuselah but it is another ancient bristle cone pine from the same location in the White Mountains. We took this shot with a group of perhaps 4 other like-minded photographers in August 2022. I had no idea that the eye of the milky way was out or that it was positioned directly behind my subject but heck, I'll take it!

Also, if you have a good SUV with decently high clearance and good tires, MAKE the drive to Patriarchs Grove. It was totally worth it.
