This is by far one of the most challenging hikes I’ve done. Trail is only 15 miles but we clock at 20 miles day hike because we did some other lakes as well. Backpacking recommended. Trails has inclines and switchbacks. Mosquito repellents needed, trail is shaded for the most part and some areas at the top is cover in snow still. Must have good navigation and some rock...

June 4th, backpacted to and camped at Sam Mack Meadow. Hiked to Palisade Glacier to Mt. Sill. Supposed to be the Glacier lake in the summer, the lake was now ice covered with thin snow and water. The turquoise color comes from the glacier powder. It felt surreal and mysterious. I was in awe of its beauty.
