I've been very disappointed with this thrift store lately. I purchased an item this past week that was not as expected. It appeared to be a new soft animal carrier. It was in a taped up box and I was in a hurry so I didn't open it. When I got home, I discovered someone had stuffed something else in the box. I can't even figure out what it is. I don't mind donating to a good cause, such as this one, but when I buy something in their store, I expect it to be what it's marked. They should check everything before putting them out on the shelves. Also, as others have noted, prices have been creeping up consistently, which I can understand to a point, but their furniture and dishes have gotten outrageous. I used to be able to get a good deal on things. A few months ago, there was a three-piece entertainment unit that was huge and I really only needed the 2 outside pieces. So, I asked if I could just take those pieces and leave the middle one for them to sell, because it was too big for me to do anything with. The young man, who appears to be the one that prices the furniture, said it would never sell with just the one piece, and that he would not let me buy just the 2. So, instead of making money selling 2 pieces to me, the 3 pieces sat on the floor unsold for months. The worst, which I know the staff can't control, is that resellers line up outside for store opening, rush to their respective areas, and strip the store of all the nicer, low-priced items in about 15 minutes. I wish the staff would hold things in the back, instead of putting them out after closing or before they open, so more things can be put out later in the day, when those of us who just like to enjoy thrift shopping can get some good finds. I used to find a lot of great things, at good prices, but have had little...
Read moreProbably about the best thrift store in the Asheville area. The staff & volunteers take great care in checking the items before they are priced and put out on the sales floor, which reduces the number of items that are ripped, stained, broken, defective that a shopper has to sift through. The store is much cleaner and neater than GW, and there's no funky smell when you come through the door. Prices are very fair and reasonable. Staff and volunteers that "work" in the store are very helpful and kind. The money raised by this store goes right to the care and support of the kids at Black Mountain Home for Children & Families (and NOT to paying a hefty 6 figure salary to a regional manager...
Read moreVery rude female assistant manager and manager Patrick. Have been shopping her for years. They reprice items at their leisure, and for certain customers. They change the rules when they see fit about pricing an item. Patrick was very disrespectful, and allowed his assistant manager to run her mouth to multiple coworkers while I was leaving the store. While attempting to speak with another employee she inserted herself, refused to allow me to ask another employee a question, and called Patrick back up to the front. I will not be back. Wish I hadnât wasted money here through the years to be treated so poorly for bringing up their store policy, and how itâs not equally distributed...
