Very nice/clean inside and out. There are vending machines and bathrooms. There are also cold water fountains. There are several trash receptacles spread out throughout the facility and outside. There is plenty of parking for cars and on the other side for 18 wheelers and RVs and the place is very well lit at night. On the car vehicle side of the complex there are nature trails that you can walk along and they are very interesting. Long ago like when I was a young boy and the Earth was young massive fissures opened on the surface of the Earth and Magna poured out and as you walk along on these trails that is what you see. Don't worry it's been a long time since I was a boy and the Earth was young but lava is cold to the touch. It is a fascinating walk through...

Just finished a 2,000 mile trip from MT to CA and back and stopped in this rest area on my way home. I travel a lot in the Mmountain region and the West region and have to say that this rest area is one of the best maintained or is the best maintained that I have visited. They were even throwing down ice melt for the truckers to get to the building. Remember those truckers need all the support they can get in the winter and a clear path to the restroom and a clean facility makes a difference. To the team maintaining this rest ares....THANK YOU for a...

This rest area is one of several in the region that are above par. This one packs an interesting architecture and is nestled among the stark background of lava flows and sage brush. If you've never been to Craters of the Moon this area will give you a pretty decent sense of what you've missed there.

The facilities are super clean and well stocked. You can picnic at one of several picnic tables placed nearby. So, if you can hold it (lol) for a few miles this is definitely a...

A pleasant rest stop. With covered and uncovered picnic areas. This stop had some nice attractions like walking trails and places for fluffy to play and rest too. They had womens and mens stalls that were not working but it appears that they were in the process of fixing them. The rest stop was very clean. The stop had vending machines inside for snacks, energy drinks, soda and water.

Good rest stop but it seems like it is not maintained all that well. Lots of garbage some disrepair and not as clean as would be nice. Otherwise it was ok but it has a nice and interesting walking path which was fun to explore going through the lava fields with good signs explaining what you are seeing. Paths appear navigable with a wheelchair which is very nice.

Bathrooms could use better upkeep (it smelled like it wasn't cleaned often). However, Hell's Half-Acre Trail that sits next to the stop was great to hike, stretch the legs, and enjoy the sounds of nature. Also had plaques throughout with info about the area which was fun to read I highly recommend this stop for the hike alone if you are traveling in the area.
