Beef Barn — Local services in Blackman Charter Township

I've been going here for years and the people are friendly most of the time. I've recommended them for years for people to go to. I even went out of my way to keep going there to support them when the Cooper Street bridge was out, even though it was a nuisance to do so. However, I'm done going there. The people are less friendly than they used to be, they've gotten sloppy, and they won't do anything but bulk package the meat anymore. However, they will make you a sandwich?

Great place to take your deer. However, beware of ordering the venison meat sticks. This is the second time in 3 years that I have had some "hot pepper cheese" venison hunter's sticks made from some of my deer. Despite all of the packages being labeled "Hot Pepper Cheese," none of them have cheese in them. Last time it happened, I mentioned it and they offered to replace them but the drive is over 2 hours round trip and I just couldn't find the time.

Just stick to the typical deer processing and you'll stay happy. Besides the meat stick fiascos, they usually do a great job and I typically receive as much meat as my estimation...

I have been going to beef barn every year with my deer for about 5 years. I have never had a bad experience until this year. I took a deer there and when I finally got to eating it, the meat was not edible. We tried multiple different packages of the burger thinking maybe we just got a bad couple pounds and it was all the same. We kept getting a nasty waxy film all over our mouths which tells me they did not take the time to properly trim their meat.
