I was carrying some “faith baggage” that was really weighing me down. My latest church experience had ended poorly. Then my husband was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and his slow, 4 ½ year decline made me question my faith. After he died, I attended a few different churches in the area before I finally walked through the doors at Chain of Lakes. I knew within the first 5 minutes that this place was different. My wife and I were looking for a LGBTQ+ affirming church so we could raise our family in a church that felt loving and inviting. At the time, we had a list of several churches in the area to try out. We first attended Chain of Lakes after seeing their Fall Fun Fair advertised, and were blown away by how welcoming the congregation was. We never did try out any of the other churches on our list. COL quickly became our home and the people there have become our friends.
