Pacific Building Center — Local services in Blaine

After years of using this store, I've finally decided enough is enough of them taking advantage of their customers. I really really wanted to support a local family business. However one of the male "owners" is so rude and obnoxious. I've had so many negative experiences that I've tried to put aside because I wanted to give this store every chance. Just know if you go here you will most likely be ripped off. Check your receipts VERY carefully. I have had 3 instances to tell you where they ripped me off. Firstly, charging me for an excess of nails I did not actually purchase. I still trusted them then so didn't know until I got home. Secondly, purchasing pressure treated wood and them trying to give me raw wood. I had to confront them and tell them they were giving me the wrong wood and the guy looked at me surprised I knew what I was talking about and then looked angry that I called him out on it. I did leave with what I paid for that day. However this last time, I purchased tubing. VERY clearly marked at 1.99 a foot. It was on the box and I even showed the man the sticker on the rack. He charged me 2.49 a foot and when I called him out on it he had the audacity to tell me it was sales tax. That's not how tax works. Tax is on the whole purchase and is only 8.7 percent. He was claiming It was a whole 50 cents more per foot. Absolutely ridiculous. He refused to honor the marked price. I really needed the tubing asap so I said screw it and got it. After this, I will never ever come back. I urge anyone going to check your receipts and never trust them. Especially that man. Mid 40s brown hair. If he's there just leave. The two woman owners are nice ladies. They however are not enough to curb the thievery in the store. I will now only go to ace hardware or home depot where they don't steal your money. I suggest...

I am so glad this place is here. They have friendly knowledgeable staff and a variety of items that help get me out of a pickle in my weekend projects. I would much rather support a local business than a big box store anyway. They obviously don't have the same buying power as a big box store but many of their prices are competitive. They have an equipment rental section for those projects where I just can't justify spending a bunch on a specialty tool. My wife enjoys perusing their garden section.
