General store, the only General shopping store in Waskom since the 1800's. Populated mostly by the ' slavery depot brought in on the train. Still standing, my beloved ancestors walked miles this location on the red clay dirt road to purchase food, clothing, it was where post office accepted mail and it was not delivered to their cabin, General delivery this building has the section and the cage along with the actual mail slots. Experience was enlighten what my mom endured times in Waskom back then. Today still selling everything even though the place looks the same, here you purchase candy, soda, even can sit and play checkers. Ramp have been constructed to keep city laws to have access to the building. This store has two levels. More of a museum items to view however not for sale. Nice!
