Up in the hills a few miles north of Blanco lies hidden a small distillery producing some of the finest whiskey the area has to offer.
This is very good whiskey. I've been a few times before so I generally know their products. If its your first time visiting I reccomend you get a flight and ask the person pouring for an explaination as the folks working are very good and know more than me.
I was very excited to finally try their bottled-in-bond release. For those who don't know, bottled in bond spirits are based in an over 100-year old law which set very strict requirements as to the production quality of the final spirit. To my knowledge this is the very first spirit produced in Texas which meets these requirements and you can tell that this whiskey is well-deserving of that mark of quality. I ended up leaving with a bottle which if you know me is one of best things I can say about a spirit...
Other whiskey you ought to try while you're there is some of their sherry cask-finished releases. At first it seems like and odd-nod to the Andalusia region of spain of which this outfit seems to have no connection but the end-product is just delightful. I look forward to seeing more sherry-aged products as more local wine-producers start producing that style. Would love to see a solera-style whiskey aged in sherry barrels but I'm not sure its the right time for this outfit to start this.
Plenty of parking.
Food truck outside (with friend pickles).
Cheese and crackers (and maybe more) available for purchase inside.
Lots of space on the patio outside to distance yourself away from others.
Use your navigation because if you're not looking for this place you'll miss it and you don't want...

Andalusia was one of the biggest surprises that I've had while touring the whiskey trail. They were my third stop of the day and I was excited to see that there was a good truck.
The parking was easy and I loved the ambiance of the inside. It's comfortable and welcoming. The staff was quick to say hi and get me seated outside (dang covd). She was super informative and got me started on the much anticipated whiskey tasting of each whiskey. While I waited for my flight, I ordered wings and some sides from the food truck.
First the food, it was fresh and exceptional. The curly fries, bourbon wings and side snacks I got were awesome. I loved the sauce for the wings and ate everything. The staff at the food truck were fun and provided awesome recommendations.
Second, the whiskey. AMAZING. I love the variety and really fell in love with the stryker, more specifically the sherry cask version of it. The flavoring was unique with a rich taste that really impressed me. I've tried a lot of whiskeys and this one sets itself aside in an excellent way.
Overall, you've gotta stop by this place. If you don't like straight whiskey... That's cool - try thier cocktails which are extraordinary. I enjoyed an old fashioned myself.
They whiskey trail should be proud of this establishment and the...
Read moreThereâs a lot I love about Texas, and Andalusia Whiskey Co. is one of them. In fact, whenever my wife and I are in the Blanco area, Andalusia has become one of our regular stops. The facility itself is welcoming and comfortable, with plenty of games to play and a nicely stocked library - perfect activities for sipping whiskey. And their single malt whiskies are killers. On this trip, I sampled their Stryker, extra-peated Revenant Oak, Texas Brandy, and their peated rum. Full-disclosure: I love smokey whiskey, so the Stryker and Revenant Oak were truly rewarding. The Texas Brandy starts a bit hot but melts into an almost butterscotch finish. Most interesting was the peated rum. Itâs a rare find - a true sipping rum that drinks like a whiskey - rocks or a splash of water for this one. We ended our visit with house made cocktails - a Stryker old fashioned and a spiked cider with their triple distilled whiskey. So if youâre ever in the Blanco area, treat yourself give Andalusia Whiskey...
