All these reviews are written based on entry through the Valley of the Gods East Entrance, which is off U.S. Highway 163. Your first stop is the Valley of the Gods (VOG) overlook, which is on the right after ascending a short hill. The viewpoint has a very large parking area and is a great place to take the perfect overview photo of the VOG. Since we have written short reviews for each location within the Valley of the Gods, we will only point out what is unique to each location along the way. All the locations are accessible by following the Valley of the Gods Road, which is a 17-mile scenic route, from the east entrance to the west entrance. Besides the entire VOG is free, you can also pull off anywhere along the way and camp overnight or longer for free, but no campfires. Be advised there are no types of services available along the route to include restrooms. So be prepared, bring plenty of water, snacks, etc., and let someone know your plans in case of an emergency.
