On July 27, 2025, my group of four played at The Golf Club at Eagle Point, a course we typically visit a couple of times a year, driving just over an hour from the north and east sides of Columbus. While we always look forward to the course’s scenic layout and challenging holes, this visit left us frustrated and questioning whether we’ll return. The pro shop staff and employees were, as usual, polite and courteous, setting a welcoming tone. However, the course conditions were a significant letdown. Before teeing off on the first hole, regulars in the group ahead warned us about the deplorable state of the bunkers. They weren’t exaggerating—the bunkers resembled clay pits and mud holes, completely unplayable. We decided as a group to avoid them entirely, which was disheartening given their strategic role in the course’s design. The fairways also showed troubling signs of wear, with patches burned out despite recent hot weather and heavy rainfall. We play other courses in the area, like Otter Creek in Columbus, which charges $65 and maintains excellent conditions even during construction. At $60 per round, Eagle Point’s value felt unjustified for the subpar upkeep.Adding to our disappointment was an bizarre experience at the bar. With the hot, humid weather, we purchased Gatorade and water before, during, and after the round. After finishing, I ordered a draft beer, priced at $7.34. I handed the bartender $8, only to be told they “don’t give change.” When I asked what happened to my change, I was informed it stays in the register—not even allocated to a tip jar. This policy felt like a blatant cash grab, especially for an already overpriced beer at a golf course. To make matters worse, after waiting five minutes—long enough for two other employees to check if I’d been helped—the bartender informed me it would take even longer to get my drink. Frustrated, with my group already waiting in the truck, I requested my $8 back and left without the beer. Charging extra for cash payments without returning change is unacceptable and left me wondering how much the course pockets by rounding up every transaction. The course’s layout remains a highlight, with engaging and challenging holes that we’ve enjoyed in the past. However, the combination of poor maintenance, a $60 greens fee that doesn’t match the course’s condition, and the frustrating bar experience overshadowed any positives. During our drive home, all four of us agreed that Eagle Point may be removed from our rotation. With other courses offering better conditions, fairer pricing, and more customer-focused service, it’s hard to justify the hour-long drive and expense. I hope the management addresses these issues, as it’s a shame to see a course with such...
Read moreMy friend and I just golfed here 3 days ago and the course was in horrible shape. We lost 8 or 9 balls that were barely hit off the fairway in the rough because the grass was so high in the rough that we could not locate our balls. Over the last few years we have played several courses around Indiana and Illinois and this was definitely one of the top 3 worst courses we have played at. Yes we have had a bunch or rain this year but the 6 other courses we have played at this year had their rough trimmed down. Also, the waterfalls on holes 10 and 18 were bone dry. Why have beautiful waterfall designs if you arent going to use them. $29 is way too high for the shape this course is in. I understand that the course was closed a few years ago due to prior owner filing for bankruptcy. The new owners purchased this course April of 2018. They have had over a year to get it back in shape. Sorry but we will never be playing here again. If you are looking for great courses to play in this area I recommend Cascades, IU’s new course or Otis Park or Stone Crest just down the...
Read moreOur group had a tee time at 7:00 in the morning. When we arrived at 6:40 the was no one at the pro shop or anywhere else for that matter. Finally, around 7:10 an employee shows up to turn on the lights and let us in. By this time there are a couple other groups wanting to get on the course which caused a back- up. The greens were not terrible but were very slow because they had not been cut or rolled. The fairways are very thin and one has to find some grass from time to time to place your ball on. The rough is very tall and going to seed. If you’re not in the fairway you’ll spend more time looking for your ball than playing. I would say the course is in about 60% condition. We saw not one employee cutting or working on this course in any way the intire time we were there. Maybe next year this will be better. Otis park is $20 with cart and this course is $35 and Otis park is...
