Ashland Resort — Local services in Bluefield

This place is fantastic. The cabins are WAY nicer than I expected, and the proximity to the trails can't be beat - you literally don't have to leave the property to access the trails. The employees are friendly and helpful, and you don't get any feeling of not being welcome as an outsider (which is not true in all rural places). The restaurant is decent (although a little slow during busy hours), and the store is well stocked and convenient. It's also good for families - we've been twice now on holiday weekends and didn't have any problems with loud partiers. I want to check out different parts of the Hatfield McCoy trail system, but we may just keep coming back to Ashland because it's such a great place to stay. If zero stars were possible, I would have chosen that. Found Ashland resort online via social media and immediately knew my husband would enjoy such a resort especially since dogs are welcomed, we have been dying to take our 14 year old Pitbull with us on a get away, I went to go book the establishment and was immediately confronted on the page of booking with a disclaimer against pitbulls and bully breeds due to their aggression....... our dog wouldn't hurt a fly and is the most loving to all. Shame on Ashland for discriminating against certain breeds. It is not the dog that is born aggressive it is the person who treats and trains...

Cabins are nice,other than getting one key for the cabin for 8 people (cabin sleeps 8) and for a cabin that sleeps 8 it has two bedrooms and one room upstairs that has four single beds and the mattresses are absolutely terrible!!!! There is absolutely nothing close as far as food or gas.. They have their own store for amenities but get ready to pay almost $10 for a pound of bacon and $5.98 a gallon for gas.. I recommend stopping at a grocery store on the way in for your stay and stock up the fridge in the cabin.. Trail access is close and convenient.. Our cabin had plenty of parking but not all...
