Excellent educational experience with friendly staff. Welcoming, affordable, helpful. When they say they are "here to get you there," they mean it! Graduating spring 2025, can't believe it. While here, ask about Modern States and CLEP exams to further save on education expenses and time. Thanks, Northeast!

With the increase in enrollment due in large part to the Tennessee Promise, Northeast State has become increasingly commercialized. Parking is a major issue, with hardly enough space to suit current needs and tutoring is limited at best. Some professors are wonderful and have a firm understanding of the subject material and are able to clearly and concisely translate the subject matter in a way in which it is easily understood by students. These professors are often readily available and willing to assist students meet their full potential for as much as the students themselves are willing to put fourth an equivalent amount of effort. Then there are professors that drive home the point that they are there only to speak for two hours, and despite having required office hours, they discourage seeking assistance. While acting as an adviser is important, an instructor should take care to provide an equal amount of attention (if not more) to his or her students. This is problematic in those subjects in which there may only be one instructor for that given topic. Furthermore, this also limits the ability to create a schedule suitable to the students needs, with only one class offering available during one time slot from one professor. Not all instructors are created equally, and the lack of options creates numerous issues, the least of which is not seating, whereby dozens of students are forced to compete for a limited number of seats in the meager course offerings, potentially delaying a pre-required course and creating a delay in the students ability to graduate on time. On campus, food choices are limited to Subway and vending machines, being that the campus is located beside an airport in a somewhat isolated area. Parking is straight parking rather than slanted, and while this arrangement provides for more spaces, it is also cause for more incidents involving vehicle accidents within the parking lot itself. There is an active security presence on campus at all times, but with the sudden increased enrollment, I feel as though there is a need to increase campus police in an equivalent manner. There are a few wonderful individuals on campus, as there is with any institution, but I feel that the negative outweighs the positives this institution has to offer. There is a lot of potential, and future projects in the works, but there is also room for improvement. The new iPad initiative, is one such issue, which could stand to be...

Very upset with the way NES has handled my enrollment for summer classes. First, I am an Americorps alumnus receiving and education award. I enrolled during May and have had nothing but problems. A payment was posted to my account which belonged to another student, then I was dropped because payment had not been received. I have had to check on this myself and called the corporation which stated NES has an agreement with them for electronic payment and is aware of their protocol which is to release payment a week prior to classes starting. I should have never been dropped from the course. Very disappointed about the entire situation. My payment was received Thursday, May 30, 2013 and class begins tomorrow. I have tried in vain to get this resolved and to date I have received no information as to whether I was added back to the roll. I simply wanted to attend class this summer using the award I have earned. I understand things happen and can go wrong at time, but surely I should have been notified of my status being that summer classes start Tuesday, June 4. I am going to class because you...

I've had several experiences at Northeast State, some good, and some bad. For the most part the teachers have been extremely helpful. I have had to teachers that have gone above and beyond, while there were some who were awful.

Where Northeast State stands to improve is the administrative aspects, you get bounced around on the phone so much by people who seem annoyed by your questions. Latest example of this is that the "MyNortheast" web portal is down while summer classes start tomorrow so I cannot retrieve my class schedule. That is no big deal, I understand maintenance occurs. BUT, this does not warrant a snarky response to a question of when the expected return time of the site is.

Overall, I've had a few amazing educators at Northeast. PLEASE pick up your game on helping people understand the...
