Dolphin Mini Golf — Local services in Boothbay

We were on family vacation trying another Maine mini golf course. We received great service even with the COVID19 restrictions. We had very helpful and friendly interaction with the attendant, whom I presume to be the owner. He was short staffed, but it was not too busy when we got there. So we needed cash and they conveniently have a ATM onsite, which he quickly made available to us.

He got us going with the items needed for mini golf. It was a fairly hot summer day, but it was a nice course under cover of full grown trees. Even though they are located right along the main road into Boothbay, it wasn't terrible as far a traffic disturbance or annoyance. I only took note of the traffic when we first came to a hole near the roadway. The course was not too difficult, but had some interesting holes designs that presented some challenges. We have played many different mini golf courses in the state. This one was an instant favorite. There is a theme throughout as you might expect with the proximity to the ocean and the course name of Dolphin (I won't ruin the discovery for you, no spoilers here).

We also were able to partake of the ice cream stand they have onsite. A very impressive offering of soft serve flavors, as well as hard serve, and shakes any flavor in two sizes, and two consistencies, regular and thick. We were into the icecream and only got bottled water besides that, but I think you can get some other food items there as well. The same attendant took our order and helped serve our icecream and even took the time to chat with us some. We were then able to relax behind the stand in the shade again of some trees overlooking a nearby small frog pond with some flowers growing beside it.

Also on site, as if that isn't enough, is an arcade building, which was not open due to the COVID19. But what was open is perhaps the largest and most unique collection of sea shells. This is housed in a covered bridge looking building. Along the walls of it's long sides and also up the center, are glass cases with an amazing assortment of shells neatly arranged on a bed of white sand, from the familiar to the strangest looking. Some are incredibly large and some are tiny. The assortment is just that, some of exactly what you picture in your head what a seashell is, and many other kinds that have surprising shapes and colorations. Here you can actually come away knowing more about seashells because next to the shells is a card with information about the shells. The collection represents many hours of diligent work to find, catalog and arrange the display. It is well worth the time to have a look at all the different items in this collection.

Overall just a great place to spend some quality family time. Highly recommended. Make this stop and expect to spend some time here to fully enjoy all that is offered. If you don't have time for all of it you can always go back another...

when i go on vacation i have always looked to play mini golf. this maine vacation was no different. we settled on dolphin mini golf on august 3 and boy were we glad. basically completely shaded area for the whole course which was nice on a hot sunny day. very friendly staff - answered all questions with a little history of the course etc. the course itself is well kept. the greens had no leaves, rips, sticks etc on them. each hole was different and creative. the course was just right on the challenging scale. my family and i enjoyed ourselves tremendously. and of course we had ice cream. it was great to see multiple flavors of soft serve - very delicious. nice place to sit and eat by a little frog pond. if we are every in the boothbay region again, we will definitely...

I wish I can give them less than one.. very bad experience. Starting by asking us about our origin then asked my friend if they played mini golf before( really). I was with group of friends and my two kids. My daughter came running and she was shaking. The employee start screaming at my son since his ball went over the fence and he was trying to get it with very load voice” you are in trouble, you meet me in the office right now” his sister came running and she was very shaking thinking that her brother is going to be in trouble. We left immediately, yes she said she is sorry but my kids were shaking. Mini golf should be fun for kids. This was very bad place....
