update
We went today, I brought my parents and sister. Caleb did not teach the class this time. We could barely hear the person giving instruction as she talked very softly. The person who managed the class took control of the pieces and then adjusted them after we were done. The pieces were also not labeled so everyone’s bowls were mixed up.
I’m in LOVE!
I have searched all over for a reasonably priced location where I can pick up pottery as a hobby. I have zero interest in just painting- I want to create! I took the 3 heart nesting bowl workshop and fell in love with this place. The owner is quite literally a master potter (whatever the highest level is). He took complete control of the class, gave everyone instructions but also was able to, with one feel, tell you what your next direction was. I did feel slightly rushed but I can confidently say taking on 6 newbies throwing pottery is probably exhausting, so definitely giving some grace. I have shared “The Kiln with everyone I know and can’t wait to return next weekend, then take the 4 classes, and the mushroom fairy workshop in March. Needless to say, my “spending budget” will be going...

I was disappointed to find the class kind of sped us along to create and finish our pieces on the wheel. If we weren’t quite doing something right, we were asked to pause so the instructor could fix it. I would’ve rather been just told how to do it better first rather than just having it fixed for me without further assistance. It was also disheartening to see my piece needed to be further “fixed” by the instructor after I was done. I liked that the clay was torched so we could glaze by the time we picked our colors and didn’t at all feel rushed to take my time to do so how I wanted. It took longer than I thought (in a good way)! After picking up today, my boyfriend and I both agreed we would like to go back and do more/ try again. Maybe we can do enough to not have our pieces...
Read moreI have been taking my children to the Kiln for about 5 years and I absolutely love it there! The gifts that my children have made there are priceless and my family and I will be able to cherish them forever. The staff and owner have always been extremely helpful, kind, and courteous. When I first went there, my children were only 1 and 3 and the owner was incredibly patient with us and took her time to help us. We've come back every year and received the same warm welcome every time. I highly recommend going to the Kiln to make a gift with your child, to have a fun night with friends, or to paint a gift of your own. I can't say enough good things about it- check it out...
