I could not have been more disappointed than I was when I went there with 7 other friends on Friday 9/10/21 and was forced to carry due to âcourse conditionsâ. I understand that the previous days 5.5 inches of rain had the course in tough shape. What is unacceptable, however, was that there wasnât a push cart available to rent. We were told that they only have 36 at the facility. 36!!! How can that be? Itâs really a lousy way to treat customers. And the woman checking the golfers in was curt and unsympathetic which really added to our frustration. The experience we had at Captains was the only dark stain that my friends and I had on our annual golf trip. With all of the options down the cape, weâll certainly think twice before returning to Captains. After emailing Jay Packett, the Director of Operations at Captains, I received a blah, generic apology. He more or less said sorry, not sorry, thereâs nothing we could have done. Youâre incorrect, Jay. You could have offered us a free cart next time we played, a round of beers after the round, had more pull carts available for your patrons, etc. Nope. It was basically grab your bag and walk. Donât like it, tough. Iâm certain this wasnât the first time this happened at their course. They ruined a day of golf for dozens of golfers because they simply CHOSE to be unprepared. Adios, Captains. I wonât be...
Read moreThe course itself is really nice, it can be very challenging but in great shape. With that said, the rangers on the course are condescending and all over you. They really pack the course in so it can play slow but constantly on top of you. After a pretty quick pit stop at the turn, we fell maybe a hole behind (we were not really behind the pace time, pacing for 4 hours 30 minutes which for a Sunday on the cape doesnât seem that bad) and the ranger waited for us on the 11th tee, we got a 5 minute lecture on how to play faster. They even told us we werenât allowed to pull the pin on the green because it takes too much time. Turns out we were a hole behind because the group in front of us only played 9 holes.
Advice for them: Donât be a*, just ask if we wouldnât mind picking up the pace. If you donât want players to stop at the turn, have a beverage cart on the course (should have it anyway when youâre paying $120/round) Donât pack in tee times to squeeze every imaginable dollar...
