I was a Bristol resident around 15 years ago and began bringing my cats to the Bristol veterinary hospital . Over multiple years we went for neuterings, vaccinations , and checkups, urinary tract infections, and even kitty conjunctivitis. Not once did I question the diagnosis or care prescribed, it was evident from the jump that the vet and staff there are passionate about their profession and truly care about the animals they see. Fast forward 15 years. I now currently reside in Concord. After two visits to a local Concord vet for another eye issue(suspected kitty conjunctivitis again) that included two different eye ointments and a combined bill of over $250 and about a months wasted time due to misdiagnosis. I finally did what I should have done from the onset and drove the 45 minutes back to the Bristol Veterinary Hospital. Unfortunately the eye was not something she could fix, but recognized immediately that it was a corneal sequestrum and requires a veterinary eye doctor to surgically remove. She guided us thru the next steps and recommended an amazing veterinary clinic closer to us who has an eye doctor. I can’t thank the Bristol Veterinary enough for all of their care and advice. Needless to say, next time there is a need to see the vet, we will be making the 45 minute drive to Bristol, where we know our pets are lovingly cared for. Thank you Bristol Veterinary Hospital staff, for your loving and insightful care of...
Read moreWhat kind of vet is afraid of dogs??? My (new to me) dog was exhibiting massive overstimulation and anxiety and all Jill did was jump back and twitch which made it worse.
Unprofessional. Jill lectured me on how "dominant" and "aggressive" my dog was being and instead of working to calm him (and me!) down, she proceeded to have him muzzled, chokered, and then sedated. I am a new dog owner but even I know the difference between anxiety and dominance!
Nothing was explained to me at all. I had to Google what was done at the appointment based off the limited amount of info I had from the invoice.
Traumatized. I was internally panicking, my dog panicked and now my dog is refusing to train (we worked SO HARD over the past two weeks!) and he's displaying some PTSD behaviors like nipping, and being withdrawn, refusing treats, hyper vigilance, and accidents.
What a miserable experience for a brand new dog owner and a dog who hasn't even fully acclimatized to his new home!
And to top it off, nobody wore name tags and it was impossible to tell who was a client and who...
Read moreIt was strange not accompanying my dog into the office for his appointment. Glad they had an alternative arrangement to see pets during the pandemic but was dismayed to have the attending staff member NOT wearing a mask when she came within two feet of my half open car window - rather defeating the purpose of keeping me out in the parking lot. I directed her to the passenger side of the car to retrieve the dog, and put on my own mask for her return trip. If your staff is not masked, then please direct them to stay on the far side of the vehicle. The appointment was accomplished very...
