Update, months later. Same old same old. In the pickles section yesterday, there were only two types of Vlasic pickles. Most of the rest are house brand, or ones I hadn't heard of before. The store in Bristol has gone downhill since the Hannaford chain took over. Little by little, several of the brands have been replaced by the Hannaford brand. I spoke briefly with the manager about this and was told that much of those items all come from the same supplier, just carry a different brand. Still, it's frustrating when you specifically shop to purchase a particular brand and it's not there. In the meat department, I've had a hard time finding a 1-pound package of hamburg. The few times I've looked, they've all been in the neighborhood of 1 1/3 pounds or over. I've also had a difficult time finding thin cuts of beef. I asked the meat department man about this and was told I should show up early in the morning if I want those items. Wait, I thought I was the customer. I did point out to him that Walmart carries 1-pound pound hamburg pack-ups all the time and that perhaps I would have to shift my shopping habits. Nobody seems to care. Several items have a little black tag below the price indicating a local product. This is handy when it's true. There were some under many rows of honey. I couldn't find one whose label didn't have Brazil or Argentina as a country of origin. I took one bottle to the service desk and pointed this out. She thanked me and said she would make note of it. 10 days later I went back. Same situation. Doesn't engender confidence in their attention to detail. The staff they hired lacks the personal touch the previous personnel had. Not unusual to have the cashier chatting with the bagger instead of relating to the customer. I guess that's common in many places these days. My favorite is when I am asked by the cashier if I found everything I was looking for, I reply no, and they just keep ringing up items. I wouldn't be shopping here if there were a...
Read moreGreat store, generally speaking most employees love it when you just stop to chat with them like a normal human. I think I have only had awkward conversations a few times in the years I have gone here. Their selection is however limited, so keep that in mind.
It used to be a shop and save which was a smaller company, however Hannaford's bought them out and as such it maintains a a vibe from both companies.
The only minor issue would be with the selection of organic products, but that because their size is limited and the area it is in wouldnt make sense to have higher priced items.
They do however have a decent organic selection, plenty to get by on. Also their fish selection is amazing for a small store. The butchers also do a fantastic job and quite often have better sales than I would find at their larger stores.
I would much prefer to go to this store than a larger one, like in...
