Read moreDonât go in the winter!!! đ„¶ âïž We drove 6 hours from Houston to spend Christmas with our kids and family. We booked the cabin for 4 nights and it was horror from the first night. The first night, the lights went out and our fireplace wouldnât light with the battery đ pilot. Maintenance finally was able to fix it temporarily for the night 5 cold hours later so we could have some sort of warmth for the night. Day 2; still no lights and then we had no water because the cabins all have wells that run on electricity. The power was finally restored at almost noon. We were relieved and were able to take showers đż but the water was FREEZING! We didnât mind that too much because we had water and electricity. Day 3, Christmas Eve; we woke up, and weâre excited to finally have hot water! We had breakfast and received a call from Pine Lake that they were shutting down the entire development because some pipes burst overnight and we had to leave by 3pm. So I had to pack up my kids and the rest of our family and belongings, including over $400 in groceries we purchased for our stay, and drive all the way back to Houston because there werenât any rooms available to accommodate us.
I also failed to mention that because we were being rushed to leave, our other family members in a separate cabin, who were also told to leave by 3pm werenât able to adequately prepare for departure and do a safety check on their trailer. The trailer hitch froze overnight and unlatched on the highway! So on Christmas Eve, in the middle of nowhere with no stores open to aide them, they were nearly stranded. Thankfully; a Good Samaritan stopped and gave them a trailer hitch so they could make it home.
Pine Lake did refund us for our stay, but we were very disappointed with the lack of winter preparation for the development. No generators on cabins with wells that run off electricity and to put guests out on Christmas Eve AFTER everything finally started working properly was unacceptable. If anything, they should install generators or have a partnership with a hotel nearby in the event of an emergency like this. Donât just put your guests...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of staying at the Red Baron Lodge in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and it was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beauty and serenity of the property. Nestled among the trees, the lodge offers a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and rustic charmâmaking it the ideal getaway spot. We love it so much, we have been back to the Red Baron several times!!
The cabin itself was beautifully designed with thoughtful touches throughout. The spacious layout, high ceilings, and cozy furnishings made us feel right at home. Every detailâfrom the fully stocked kitchen to the comfortable beds and modern amenitiesâwas carefully considered to ensure a relaxing stay.
One of our favorite parts was the outdoor area. Whether we were enjoying coffee on the deck in the morning, soaking in the hot tub under the stars, or gathering around the fire pit at night, the natural surroundings amongst the Ouachita Mountains made everything feel peaceful and private.
We also appreciated how close the lodge was to all the local attractionsâBeavers Bend State Park, Broken Bow Lake, and the charming shops and restaurants in Hochatown. Yet, when we were back at the cabin, it felt like we were in our own private retreat.
Overall, Red Baron Lodge exceeded our expectations. Itâs the kind of place youâll want to return to again and again. Whether youâre planning a family trip, a romantic weekend, or a group getaway, this is a five-star destination in the heart of Oklahoma nature.
Highly recommended! If you have to ability to go in the fall or at Christmas, it is also beautifully decorated for each season! Like straight out of a Hallmark movie!
Thank you, Red Baron Lodge, for years of family memories and many more to come!
Love,
The...
