I selected this gym because of the cancellation policy. That was very appealing to me because many gyms in the area have contracts where you have to stay with the company for a year or even two years. I wanted to gym that I would be able to cancel at any time because sometimes my schedule does not permit for me to go to the gym very consistently. I am also new to the gym so I wanted to be an environment that would also motivate me to continue to go to the gym.
I contacted the gym asking if I could cancel my membership because at this point, it has been a little too much for me to afford and whoever I spoke with, I am not sure if it was the owner basically was telling me that I need to pay off any fees before I can cancel, which have been racking up, even though I have not been going to the gym and I have my check-in history to prove it.
I can understand if I need to pay off any balances, but to tell me that I will continue to get charged and I can’t cancel my membership until I pay $200 in fees seems contradictory to the cancel at anytime policy. What also took me by surprise is that I was told that I would continue to get charged because I can’t cancel my account with an outstanding balances and it will possibly get sent to collections at that point, without at least offering to freeze my account so I can simply have a $200 balance left to pay.
Considering this is not a chain operation, I would expect the gym to be more understanding, especially realizing that a customer has not been to gym in months.
Rather than canceling the account once it’s been charged and declined or contacting the customer, they simply continue to charge you monthly and additionally rack up on declined fees ($27 extra per month).
After I wrote this review I spoke with Hannah and she was more helpful than who I previously spoke with. She was understanding to the fact that I have not been utilizing my membership and offered to charge $100 rather than the $200 the previous person was...
Read moreThis gym is unbelievable. The owner and staff are extremely nice, very helpful, and the gym/space/equipment is fantastic. I just signed up and I’ve never been this excited to be a member of a gym. One of the nicest and cleanest I’ve ever set foot in, a wonderfully diverse demographic, and so far everyone I’ve talked to or stopped to ask questions about the place, has been super nice. So glad I found this place and the monthly fee is very fair considering the quality of the place and equipment. Everyone seems to respect the place, rack their weights, put things back, respect others and the gym, there are a lot of large athletes/body builders/power lifters but from what I’ve seen no one tries to intimidate and it’s a very comfortable environment. I really look forward to being a part of this gym! If you live in the Buda/Kyle area and you go to any other gym but this one you’re messing up! I also like how they only open enrollment every so often to keep the capacity under control. It does seem to get crowded but there are plenty of weights and machines so it’s no excuse, and they have great hours so go really early or late and you won’t have a problem. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you Brian and Gigi for being awesome and...
Read moreI'm a 100% disabled veteran who came here and was denied service because I was accompanied by my medical alert service dog. The owner is unaware of ADA requirements which protect both handlers and their service companions. My service dog was repeatedly referred to as a "pet" and it was suggested I find a way to work out without her. Claiming potential allergy issues and demanding certification paperwork, the owner doesn't have any idea about ADA laws preventing discrimination against service animals. For reference, the only two questions a business may ask are: 1) Is your animal a service animal? & 2) What service does the animal perform? Businesses are not allowed to demand handlers provide documentation of their service animal, but the owner wrongly believes otherwise.
The social media for this gym claims "no stupid rules" however, I would argue illegally demanding paperwork for my service dog which I rely on to prevent potentially life threatening emergencies is quite contradictory. I would not recommend coming here to anyone, and I implore those accompanied by their service animals to stay clear of this business unless they want their state and federally guaranteed rights...
