Rocky Falls — Local services in Bunker

I’ve been going to Rocky Falls every summer with my kids for the last 4-5 years! It’s perfect for relaxing and playing in the water. You can easily climb up the waterfall for a great view or take a fairly easy trail that takes you to the top without getting you wet, if you’re not looking to get wet. The swimming hole is big and rages from shallow to deep enough you can jump off some of the rocks at the bottom of the water fall. There are benches, picnic tables, and grills if you want to make a day of it. We take a beach umbrella, coolers, towels snorkel gear, and inflatables for the water. There’s generally plenty of little areas to unload your things and set up a spot on varies sand and rock bars. I’ve never seen a rough crowd any time I’ve gone. I think it’s very family friendly and safe. Unlike other outdoor locations for family fun, the parking spaces are not far from the water at all. My mom has some knee issue but she is not limited thanks to the short walk to the water. There are several shallow areas for small children too. It’s a gorgeous view and a great place to unwind while enjoying nature. I highly suggest wearing water shoes and bringing sun screen, there are several shaded areas but if you want to play in the water, the water hole and water fall are very exposed and o well the sun. Every year, our first stop when traveling to Eminence, Missouri, is always Rocky Falls before hitting the canoes. Over the last several years, we’ve found it to be a peaceful spot with only a handful of people around. The waterfall has a beautiful stream flowing down, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you can climb up to the top. Some areas even have natural stone formations that create a slide-like effect.

If you plan to visit, I highly recommend bringing life jackets and water shoes, as the water in the center can be quite deep. Water floaties are also a good idea! In our most recent visit, we noticed a larger crowd than in previous years. The river was closed due to flood warnings, so it seemed like everyone spread the word and headed to Rocky Falls instead.
