We were looking to support a local farm and saw that this one was in the area, so decided to make a trip to purchase produce. When we arrived, a lady was standing in the yard, and a man was sitting in his truck (took that they were the owners). They both saw us drive up, neither spoke/greeted us, nor approached us when we got out of our car to look around. There was no "welcome to our market", no "how can we help you", nothing of the sort that made us feel like our business was wanted there. The lady did follow me into the little store and even then, she didn't speak to me nor ask if I needed help or tell me anything about their products. I took that as a sign that they didn't want a person of color shopping in their establishment, which is fine by me. I prefer a business to be upfront about what type of clientele they provide service to, versus me spending my money where I'm not welcomed. Read moreI saw the sign driving down highway 96 South of zebulan. I told my wife to go check it out. The gentleman was most helpful and picked out some wonderful cantaloupe and watermelon for us. It is the real stuff. I took my brother-in-law a cantaloupe and when he opened the car door he said the entire car smells like cantaloupe. The flesh was firm and tasted like I remember cantaloupe tasting as a child. Not the Orange colored cardboard you buy in grocery stores now. This is where my wife and I will buy our fruits and vegetables...
