I’ve played Burke Lake 4–5 times a month for years and always had great experiences. The course is fantastic and the pro shop staff is always great—which makes this experience on Sunday night especially disappointing.
We had a 5:50 p.m. tee time. My group was fully checked in, paid for, and standing at the tee box by 5:45 p.m. I let the starter know our last friend was parking and would meet us directly at the tee. He arrived at 5:48 p.m., still before our scheduled time.
Despite this, the starter (a younger male I hadn’t seen before) insisted on letting a group scheduled 10–15 minutes after us tee off ahead of us. And the group ahead of them hadn’t even cleared the green—so we ended up waiting an extra 10 minutes anyway.
When I calmly explained that we were ready and paid, the starter scolded me, saying I “needed to understand what late means.” I stayed respectful, but we weren’t late at all—and being talked down to like that was frustrating. I even had to clarify to the group behind us that we were taking our tee time back, which I shouldn’t have needed to do.
I rarely complain, but this situation was handled poorly and with unnecessary attitude. I hope management looks into what happened on and reminds staff that tee times should be honored, and regular players deserve...
Read moreMy Mother and her friend went to golf there and a fairly old white man that worked there told them that they can only play 8 holes. That didn't bother me until he made a comment on my mother and her friend speaking Korean saying "Why can't you speak English I pay tax for you and your kids to learn English." ... To the sir who said that to my mother you've truly disrespected not only my mother but the Korean people who do golf there. We do pay our taxes like every American, and we also love to play golf. I am truly displeased as a customer, the fact that he was upset at a women who is 56 years old and holds with her friend which by the way they were both raised in Korea and do have trouble speaking English makes me very upset that they cannot even speak in their own native tongue. To the people who speak a different language make sure you speak English the entire time because this man is gonna get upset and tell you that he pays taxes and because of him we have to learn English. Sorry Lake Braddock for this complaint, but this has...
Read moreI couldn't give the course more than 3 stars because of the jerk working concession. I was there with my son and while he was warming up I bought a beer to enjoy the weather outside. I do look young (for late 40s ???) and the guy asked for my ID. I laughed to myself, but gladly handed it over. He looked at it intently for like 10 seconds.. and I thought that would be it, but then he started rubbing on my license intently as if I had marked it up with fake numbers and he was about to catch me using a fake ID. My guy would not give up but he grudgingly acquiesced and I ran my CC to pay for it. I stood looking at him patiently afterwards and he raised his eyebrows quizzically. I asked for the receipt and he just hit some button on the register and walked away. Didn't even bother to hand it to me himself. Had to get his coworker to hand it to me. Talk about crummy customer service. Thankfully the rest of the staff I interacted with was more professional. The range and course are nice and in...
