I'm so sad I can't give this awful place 0 stars and it breaks my heart since years ago I gladly reviewed it at 5.
Sure, you think maybe being upset there were notices on all the doors screaming at dog owners to pick up their waste is silly - they should pick up after their pets, absolutely. Fine. But what was NOT on notice anywhere accept the door you'd have opened to reach it on the other side of the apartment complex is notice that they have moved the machine used to load money onto the REQUIRED laundry cards to DOWNTOWN. If you had the ability to yell in angry sounding orange fliers at everyone (not just owners - everyone) then you had the ability to inform us how you were making it impossible for those of us without cars to do laundry - BEFORE you did it, not the notice you're sure to put up after this review gets posted. It is the lack of consideration toward tenants that is the biggest issue here, not that so called improvements aren't happening or even need to happen.
These apartments, they don't even have dish washers, and the owner proudly announced how they are going to be charging people over $1000 ($995 in rent, a bunch of extra money for things like parking and water) for these 2 bedrooms.
They still haven't put up the guards to keep the squirrels out of the attic or our apartments, of course, squirrels are the nicer of the pests that currently pledge the place. It is common sense that if you are going to cut down all the trees the squirrels live it (I suspect ash bore are involved so it did need to happen) that you'd first prep for blocking those squirrels from getting into the structures around them.
They're likely banking on our of town folks moving here who don't know what the history of Windpoint apartments (formerly Lakeshore Village) is and that is, to be fair, how we ended up here. We had clearly moved in during the end time of it's good days because WOW has this place gone down hill fast. We can't move out faster, too bad it's not fast enough to dodge the pool fee.
Tenants have found that airing grievances to management directly over things for many years has done nothing. They have blamed the staff through the many different managers that have been here for as long as we have lived here yet things declined and we weren't ever heard.
This is what public reviews are for. When attempts at direct communication do nothing all one can do is try to warn others and avoid...
Read moreFor the price Windpoint Apartments is your best option in the area for many reasons. First the location is great, close to the lake, and there are 2 bus stops in easy walking distance that will take you anywhere in Racine. You have a Piggly Wiggly, Pharmacy and Dollar Store all a short walk away. Plenty of gas stations and places to eat all in easy reach. They have a property manager that is everything you could hope for. Janet will make you feel at ease the minute you meet her. She is always accessible, friendly and she gets things done quickly. For any request or problem I’ve had big or small she has taken care of it promptly and I never feel like I’m bothering her, she’s always happy to help. Always friendly and she seems to know everyone’s name, you can count on her to get things done. She even got the long standing pool fee waived for all residents. Yay for Janet! The maintenance staff is also very friendly and professional. It’s been rare that I’ve ever had to call them in the 6 years I lived there because the apartments are so well maintained. The few times I ever needed them they have been prompt with repairs and they get things right the first time. These guys keep things running and do a fine job inside and out. The owners are also doing a lot of improvements. Parking lots have been completely repaved and striped. Landscaping and outside paint has been done. Interior halls, landings and stairs are being retiled and painted, units are being upgraded. New trees planted, sprinkler systems installed, outdoor lighting. Everyday is filled with activity as workers are making these apartments into a top notch rental property. The pool area is really nice and popular in the summer. Right next to the pool is a grilling area so you can cook and swim the summer days away. The nights are quiet with only the sound of the harbor fog horn. Another advantage of being close to the lake, no mosquitoes. None The complex is dog friendly and there are plenty of cans and bags outside provided by the complex for dog owners to dispose of waste. Dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome and the owners and dogs seem friendly enough. So for these reasons and more you should consider making Windpoint Apartments...
Read moreI moved here a few months ago, New to Racine, Property manager I've dealt with is Candice and she is Amazing. Location, Unit, Neighbors are great!! I gave it 4 stars because there is an downside. I work a lot so when i get home i am tired. If you move here expect to get not sleep and whisper when you talk :( The Walls are extremely THIN!!. I mean PAPER THIN!!!! I can hear my neighbors phone conversations, Them snoring, and etc. When i get home I am scared to talk on my phone due to the things i hear coming from neighbors unit. I wait until i leave home to talk about personal things or even handle personal business. I would advise anyone who lives here to do the same. I have never been in an unit with walls so thin and the layout is hard for you to move your bed in another angle so i hear everything. Imagine being woken up after an 12 hour shift to your neighbors having an general conversation. I should not know calls made to landlord, personal things and i mean personal to the point i go get on my couch because OMG if they knew what i could hear LOL. Outside of the thin walls I am really satisfied with the unit...
