SUP Odyssey — Local services in California

We had the worst experience working with Jeff and SUP Odyssey. We brought some of our own SUPs and rented some from him. While he was totally fine with us bringing our own boards when we made the reservation, he did everything possible to make it hard for us the day of. What’s worse, after we went through all the trouble to bring our boards to the launch location, he told us we were late and that our reservation was canceled (and deposit gone, of course)! What is outrageous is that he turned us away from the gate 30mins before the appointment time, and then we were on the phone with him for 40mins trying to figure out if there is a way he can make it easier for us… how did we end up getting the boards and keeping our trip? Jeff was an awesome teacher and we had so much fun trying paddle boarding for the first time with him. Strongly recommend taking an hour lesson - it is well worth it for the beginner. Beautiful location, and he starts you off with simple basics and clear practice instruction on land. Once on the board Jeff will help you fine tune, and adjust one thing at a time. It was surprising and relaxing for us to incorporate some mindfulness and breathing in to our paddling and Jeff is both chill and helpful. All I can say is WOW! My group had such a blast on the Russian River with SUP boards thanks to Jeff. Jeff is a really friendly guy, and of course pup companion Zen was fun to meet as well. Jeff dropped us off for our down river session, and met us at the end point. Whole thing took us a bit less than 2.5 hours as a group of 4 newbies including a pit stop for water, snacks and swimming. So much beautiful nature to enjoy along the way.
