Spicknall's Farm Market — Local services in Calverton

This season, 2023, we bought a premium priced watermelon from Spicknall's. At home we noticed that the watermelon’s inside was colored inconsistently, had white streaks, was not sweet, and tasted like nothing (image attached). I returned it to the store hoping mgmt. would exchange it for a good one. Although the store employee confirmed that the watermelon had a white streak inside, he tasted it, threw the majority of his uneaten piece in the trash, and said that he couldn't take the watermelon back, because he didn't think it was bad.

What a waste! We could've purchased a mediocre, sub-par, watermelon for half the price from any of the "membership" stores. Vote with your money; spend with companies that provide good service. Next time I’ll buy from Heyser Farm, they have a proven track record for exchanging white streaked...

It was an hispanic lady who looked up at me as I was looking at pumpkins outside never greeted me. Then after I returned the pumpkin back outside and tried to enter again she asks me "how can she help me"? at the door because they were about to close. If she would've greeted me outside she would have known that I was a customer that was already there and had been inside shopping. I don't care where you work, what position every employee needs to greet each and every customer because we're the ones that keeps your business running and without customers you have no business. If only I was greeted by the first worker I saw being that, that was my first time shopping there my review would be much better. This market is great! It has a wide variety of produce and other specialty foods. My kids and I have come for years, as we lived nearby. We’ve relocated a few years ago and still make the trip at least twice a month. The staff are pleasant and the market is well stocked. Mr. Willie was very kind and welcoming to my family, he even let my 4 year old niece that couldn’t make the pumpkin patch trip with her school this year, run through the fields and explore. She went hom with a huge smile,a perfect pumpkin and memories of the fun “farm”. I read reviews that questioned if the customer service was poor on one visit because a family had a bad experience.
